국문 초록

본고에서는 세종29년(1447)에 시행되었던 중시의 策文에서 수위를 차지했던 8인 중의 3인, 成三問, 申叔舟, 李石亨의 對策을 통해 조선전기 策文의 논지전개방식을 살펴보았다. 특히 策文의 특성상 문제와의 조응이 관건이므로 세종의 策問(문제지)분석에서부터 세 사람의 對策(답안) 분석까지 어떻게 조응하는가를 파악하기 위해 논지를 정리하여 도표로 재구성하였다. 먼저 문제를 살펴본 결과, 네 가지 조목을 한꺼번에 묻는 방식의 조밀한 구성을 알 수 있었고, 전반부에서는 역사적인 사실을 고증하라는 형태와 후반부에서는 前朝(고려)의 폐단에 이른 개혁안을 내세운 대신들의 의견에 대한 자기 견해를 펼치라는 식으로 출제되었음을 확인하였다. 그 형태면에서도 역사적 고증에 대한 지식을 묻고, 현재 논란이 되고 있는 정치적 안건에 대한 의견을 묻는 방식 등이 어느 정도 규식화 되었음을 확인할 수 있었다. 세 사람의 對策 분석을 통해 유사점을 발견할 수 있었는데 문제에 대한 긴밀한 조응은 반드시 투식어구를 사용해서 구분을 해야 한다는 점과 자신의 주장을 펼칠 때에 사용하는 투식어구와 방식이 정해져 있다는 것도 확인할 수 있었다. 조선 전기에 치러진 동일한 시험의 각기 다른 세 사람의 답안지 분석을 통해 조선전기 책문의 논지전개방식을 이해할 수 있었고, 이후 조선후기의 책문 분석과의 후속비교를 통해 조선시대 전반에 걸친 책문의 구성방식과 변모양상에 대해 추적할 수 있는 토대를 마련하게 되었다.

영문 초록

This manuscript examined development method of argument on Chaekmun(策文) of the early Chosun period by looking at Chaekmun(策文) of Sung Sam-mun, Shin Suk-joo, and Lee Seok-hyeong, 3 of 8 who ranked first in JungSi Chaekmun(重試策文) which took place in 1447. Since the correspond with question is important due to nature of Chaekmun (策文), this manuscript seized the symbol and reconstructed as a graph to understand how King Sejong's questions are connected with their answer papers. To begin with the King's questions, construction was dense because it asked 4 items at once. It is also confirmed that the early questions were to ascertaining historical truths, and the latter half were to give one's view about the courtier's opinion that suggested early reform proposal to negative effect of Goryeo. The types were settled because it asked knowledge of ascertain historical truths, or asked one's opinion about the current political issue. There are some resemblance in Chaekmun(策文) of Sung Sam-mun, Shin Suk-joo, and Lee Seok-hyeong that they must use particular word to classify the sentence that is strongly connected to the questions, and there are some particular words and ways that are only used when insisting their opinions. It was possibile to understand the development method of argument on early Chosun Chaekmun(策文) by analysing their different answer papers written at the same test, and comparing with late Chosun Chaekmun(策文) laid the foundation for tracking the format and the changes of Chaekmun (策文) throughout Chosun Dynasty.
