이주홍의 일제 말기 일문 작품 연구(1)

국문 초록

이 글은 이주홍의 『동양지광』에 수록된 일문 작품을 구체적으로 분석하고, 그 의미를 살펴보고자 하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 또한 이를 통해 일제 말기 이주홍의 대일협력이라는 역사인식의 문제도 검토하고자 한다. 그런데 이 글에서는 그의 작품 전부를 다룰 수 없기에, 먼저 잡지 『동양지광』의 성격과 이곳에 실린 이주홍의 일문 작품 목록을 정리하고, 다음으로 그의 문학 작품 중 시와 소설을 중심으로 살펴본다. 그의 수필과 논설류 그리고 만화와 표지화는 원고를 달리하여 살펴보고자 한다. 논문을 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 『동양지광』은 박희도가 1939년 1월 1일에 창간한 사상 관련 일문 종합 월간지이다. 이 잡지는 중일전쟁 이후 민간 조선인에 의해 조선에서 창간된 최초의 친일적인 사상지로, '녹기연맹'처럼 자발적인 내선일체 운동 단체의 월간지였다. 이 잡지는 사상지였기 때문에, 『국민문학』 등과는 달리 문학 작품이 많이 실리지는 않았지만, 많은 작가들의 일본어로 쓴 작품들이 실려 있다. 이주홍도 많은 작품을 발표하였는데, 필자가 조사한 바로는 삽화를 제외하면, 총 37편이었다. 이 중 수필ㆍ논설류가 4편, 시 2편(1편은 수필 속에 있음), 단편소설 1편, 평론 1편, 만화 10편, 표지화 20편 등이다. 대개가 대일 협력적인 내용이다. 둘째, 시 「여기는 대해의 한복판(ここは大海の眞只中)」과 「전원에서(田園にて)」는 각각 1943년 11월호와 1944년 5월호에 실려 있다. 「여기는 대해의 한복판(ここは大海の眞只中)」은 청년들에게 태평양 전쟁의 승리를 위하여 노력해야 한다고 독려하는 시다. 「전원에서(田園にて)」는 전원의 일상적 삶 속에서도 태평양 전쟁 상황을 궁금해 하는 내용의 시이다. 전자는 대일 협력적인 내용을 담고 있으나, 후자는 일상성과 시국적인 내용이 모두 담겨있다. 셋째, 단편소설 「지옥 안내(地獄 案內)」는 1943년 12월과 1944년 1월에 2회로 나누어 발표된 작품이다. 전체 줄거리는 미국 대통령 루즈벨트를 지옥사자가 지옥으로 안내하여 지옥의 참상을 목격하게 하고, 가짜 루즈벨트를 만나 전쟁 상황에 대해 대화를 나누는 것이다. 이 작품은 동아협력체론이나 대동아 공영권의 이론적 바탕 위에 미국을 비판하고 일본을 칭송한 작품이다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this writing is to analyze the works recorded in 『DongYangJiGwang』 by Lee, chow-hong in detail, to study the meanings and to examine the problem of history awareness at the end of the Japanese rule. As his works cannot be surveyed in this writing, first the nature of 『DongYangJiGwang』 and the list of his works in Japanese were arranged and then the poems and novels of his works were studied. His essays, articles, cartoons, and cover-drawings were examined respectively. First, 『DongYangJiGwang』 is a monthly magazine of ideology in Japanese launched on January 1, 1939. This is the first magazine of ideology by a private Korean in Joseon after the Sino-Japanese War, which is pro-Japanese and belongs to a group of the integration of an inner line movement like 'NokgiYeonmaeng'. Japanese writings of many writers appear on this magazine, which doesn't contain many literary works unlike 『National Literature』. 37 of works by Lee, chow-hong, except for illustrations, are contained, which are 4 essaysㆍarticles, 2 poems(one of them in essay), 1 short story, 1 review, 10 cartoons, and 20 cover-drawings. Second, the poem 「여기는 대해의 한복판(ここは大海の眞只中)(Here is the midst of the great sea)」 and 「전원에서(田園にて)(In the country)」 were carried respectively in the November issue, 1943 and in the May issue, 1944. The former of cooperative content toward Japan is a poem of encouraging the youth to get a victory in the Pacific War, and the latter, daily and of the current situation, is a poem of wondering about the situation of the War living in the country life. Third, 「지옥 안내(地獄 案內)(Hell Guidance)」, a short story, was released in twice in December, 1943 and in January, 1944. The story is that a grim reaper leads the President Roosevelt into hell and makes him watch the horrible scene, and then the President talks about the war with the fake Roosevelt. This criticizes the U.S. and praises Japan based on the East Asia Cooperation System or Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere.
