미주 지역 한인의 국어교육 전개양상

국문 초록

이 연구는 일제강점기 하와이 지역 한인들의 국어교육 전개 양상을 살피는 데 목적을 두고 있다. 구체적인 고찰에서는 첫째, 당대 국어교육에 대한 인식과 하와이 한인사회의 교육 현황을 통해 민족교육의 측면을 살펴보았다. 둘째 ‘국어학교’의 설립과 국어교육, 교과 및 교육 내용 등을 통해 ‘국어학교’의 활동상을 분석하였다. 전자의 민족교육면에서 보면, 하와이 지역 재미 한인들은 ‘대한인국민회’의 통솔 하에 교육사업을 중시하였고, 이주 초기부터 조선인 학교를 다수 건립해 민족교육에 진력했다. 미주 한인들에게 있어서 ‘국어교육’은 떠나온 조국의 언어인 ‘모국어’ 교육으로서, 일제강점기에 해외로 이주하게 된 한민족에게는 일종의 민족운동으로서의 교육이기도 했다. 후자의 ‘국어학교’ 활동상을 보면, ‘국어학교’는 재미 한인을 위한 일종의 근대적 교육기관이었다. 조선인학교로부터 출발한 국어학교는 1910년대 초기부터 1920년대 중기까지 한인들의 국어교육에 지대한 영향력을 끼치며 활발하게 전개되었다. 이와 더불어 국민회의 하와이지방 총회에서는 ‘국어교과서 편찬위원회’를 조직하고 국어학교 교재를 편찬함으로서 국어교육의 체계화에 앞장서기도 했다.

영문 초록

This research is that examine development process of Korean Language Education of Korean in Hawaii during the Japan Occupation. This is divided as follows: to refine your research. First, in terms of education the nation had searched the Korean education. And the status of education of Koreans in Hawaii. Second, the establishment of Korean Schools and Korean education, educational content and teaching methods, and so on. A study on this is as follows. Koreans immigrated to Hawaii in the early 19th century, they built schools and taught Korean languagl. And they are under the command of ‘Korean National Association’. Korean language education in the United States is education in their native language which is the language of the motherland. Overseas Koreans’ Korean language education is a kind of national movement. By looking at aspects of the activities of the Korean Language School was modern educational institution. From the early 1910s to the 1920s, Korean Language School has developed a training and active, so people’s influence on language education. On the other hand, the ‘Korean National Association’ composed ‘Korean Textbook Compilation Committee’, and compiled the korean textbooks and compiled textbooks were used in Korean Language School. And korean textbooks were spread to educational performance.
