허균 문학 의식의 기원

국문 초록

이 논문은 마테오 리치와 이탁오를 거쳐 허균으로 이어지는 근대적 사유의 징후들을 기원의 사유가 붕괴되는 과정으로 포착했다. 마테오 리치는 선교 목적으로 기억술과 우정론을 빼들었는데 이는 명 지성계에 전혀 예기치 못했던 파란을 일으켰고 그 자신은 과학자로, 교육자로 성공하게 된다. 이 탁오는 리치의 우정론에 감동했고 이 서양인이 명 제국에 미칠 쇄신으로서의 가치를 날카롭게 깨달았다. 비록 이탁오가 곧바로 사망했고 더 이상 리치의 의중을 간파해 들어가진 못했지만 그러한 순진한 면을 제외하면 중국의 낡은 사상을 변화시킬 힘이 수평적 질서, 즉 우정의 미덕을 강조함으로써 가능해질 것임을 알아채고 있었다. 허균은 다양한 경로로 조기에 이탁오를 알고 있었을 가능성이 크며, 특히 1602년 종사관으로 만난 이탁오의 벗이자 제자인 구장유로부터 각별한 영향을 받았을 것이다. 그는 중세적 一理論으로 상징될 보편주의와 엄숙주의를 거부하고 조선사회를 비판적으로 해체하는데 그러한 외재적 무기를 사용했다. 이는 단순한 전파-수용의 문제가 아니며, 한 천재가 자기 당대의 한계를 외부와의 창조적 교감을 통해 돌파하려는 전형적인 모습을 구현하고 있다.

영문 초록

This investigation focuses on the symptoms of modern thought appeared in texts made by unique scholar in 16th century, as it were, Matteo Ricci, Li-ji, Heo-Gyun. They show the clues that the thought of middle age in east Asian culture would be collapsed sooner or later. The memory method and friendship issue Ricci has given to the intellectual society of Ming empire had cast big surprise unexpected on the important peoples of that empire system and in the result of the case Ricci had a brilliant success to be a teacher and scientist. Li appreciated the importance of the issues that Ricci had presented on the traditional culture in China, so he had attended on Ricci’s unique style in thinking that could influence their old pattern correctly. Li has understood the right point the western religious culture could make in the historical life of Chinese people and he accepted western thought could change the old thought maintained in Ming empire that he had wanted vanish from his former career as an enlightenment thinker. Especially he has regarded the virtue of friendship as the primary element in humane society, for the virtue represented the social equality movement required by revolutional reformer to refresh the old-fashioned conservative force in Ming dynasty. It could be possible that Heo might recognize of Li-ji in various channels through canal relationship or relative connections. He was, in 1602, as a minister’s secretary engaged in the reception of Ming ambassador Koh and had encountered with Khu who was Li’s youngster friend or pupil could influenced on him. Heo, in later time, could use the intellectual weapons acquainted at that experience to refuse the monotheism of medieval thinking and solemnity doctrines or deconstruct old system of Chosun society.
