조선후기 通信使의 贐章 연구

국문 초록

이 글은 조선후기에 일본에 파견된 通信使를 送別하는 詩文인 贐章의 창작배경과 내용상 특징을, 任守幹의 『東槎日記』에 수록된 「遯窩府君日本使行時贐章」을 중심으로 살핀 것이다. 먼저, 「遯窩府君日本使行時贐章」의 창작배경을 살폈다. 조선은 德川家宣이 일본의 6대 將軍에 등극하자 신묘통신사(1711)를 파견하였다. 이때 副使로 임명된 任守幹이 관례대로 知人에게 贐章을 요청했고, 그 결과 50여 명의 문사가 보낸 贐章을 모아 엮은 것이 「遯窩府君日本使行時贐章」이다. 贐章의 작가들은 주로 任守幹과 党色이 같거나 친인척 및 벼슬길에서 관계를 맺은 이들이고, 또 次韻詩가 드문 점을 미루어 通信使 贐章은 대체로 사행 당사자의 요청으로 知人들이 자유롭게 창작하는 문학형식임을 알 수 있었다. 다음은 「遯窩府君日本使行時贐章」의 내용상 특징을 살폈다. 그 결과 「遯窩府君日本使行時贐章」은 湖堂 출신 任守幹의 사신으로서 적임자 발탁에 대한 칭송과 詩와 禮로 오랑캐를 敎化하리라는 사행에 대한 기대, 壬亂으로 인한 적개심이 바탕이 된 부정적인 시선과 신선이 사는 이상향으로 그려진 긍정적인 시선이 교차하는 對日 인식의 양면성, 험난한 바닷길 노정에 대한 염려와 무사항해에 대한 염원, 이별의 아쉬움 토로와 무사귀환의 희구 등을 내용으로 담고 있음을 알 수 있었다.

영문 초록

This writing conducts an investigation of Tongshinsa’s Sinjang, which was dispatched to Japan in the late of Chosun Dynasty, with a focus on Donwabugun-Ilbonsahangsi-Shinjang. Tongshinsa’s Sinjang is a farewell poetry that was composed by people who were giving send-offs as they transmitted “Tongshinsa”. A brief summary of this study is as follows. First is the creation background of Donwabugun-Ilbonsahangsi-Shinjang. As Tokugawa Ienobu was crowned the sixth Shogun of Japan, Chosun dispatches Tongshinsa in 1711. Im, Su-gan, who was designated a deputy delegate, requested poetries from people within the same faction, relatives and friends whom Im formed relationships with during his way into the government service, in order to increase the significance of his participation in the ambassador trip. Donwabugun-Ilbonsahangsi-Shinjang is a collection of farewel poetries that were collected at this time. The following are characteristics of Donwabugun-Ilbonsahangsi-Shinjang’s contents. First, the appointment as Im, Su-gan, an excellent writer, as Tongshinsa’s ambassador is praised for its appropriateness, and expectations for composing superb poetries and fulfilling interests in Japan upon his return are well displayed. Second, Donwabugun-Ilbonsahangsi-Shinjang authors’ double-sideness of the awareness towards Japan is well shown. There are negative views on Japan due to the Japanese Invasion of Korea, but positive views of depicting Japan as the utopia with immortals are also shown. Third, a safe voyage is wished due to concerns of travelling on the ocean, and the significant of Tongshinsa dispatch, which aims to establish the peace of both nations, is emphasized. Fourth, along with the sadness for a farewell, expectations for finishing the mission and returning safely are well shown.
