국문 초록

  일본에서 이른 후기구석기시대에 특별히 출현하는 원형 주거지에 대한 기능과 형성요인에 대한 사항에 관한 사항을 논의하고자 한다.
  먼저, 갱신세 시기동안 일본 열도에서 사라진 대형 포유류에 대한 일시적 분포에 대한 자료가 없기 때문에 이시기에 있어서 원형주거지의 형성요인으로 논의되는 사냥하는 주거유적이란 가설은 올바르지 않은 것으로 고려된다. 비록 칸또의 산악지대에서 중기구석기 사람들이 인근의 석기재료와 함께 적은 지역적 생활을 하였지만 이른 후기구석기 시대 사람들은 남부 칸또지방의 산악지형까지 활동영역을 넓혀왔다. 그 결과, 인구가증가하고 생활영역은 더욱 넓어지게 되고 이것은 사람들 집단에 사회적 생태적 압박을 가져오게 되는 것이다. 그들은 서로 간에 이러한 압박을 피하기 위해 동맹을 맺었음이 틀림없다. 그러므로 원형 주거지는 이 지역에서 민족지적으로 볼 대 겨울철 주거양식으로 보여 진다.

영문 초록

  The function and the formation factors of circular settlements emerged particularly in the first stage of EUP in Japanare discussed. As so far we have no data with temporal distribution of extinct large mammals in Japanese Pleistocene, the hunting base camp hypothesis as the formation factor of circular settlements in this temporal period cannot be accepted. Although, MP people in the mountain area of Kanto have the behavior al strategy in a proximal narrow area near lithic resources, human groups of EUP success to exploit with the monotonous environment of south Kanto tableland. As the result, the population increase and behavioral area become wider. So that, it brought a social and ecological stress between human groups. They had to confirm with the alliance between them for avoidance of these stresses. Circular settlements were to be selected as this place such as a winter village in ethnographies.
