국문 초록

과학과 의술의 발달, 산업과 경제의 발달 등으로 인해 현재 전 세계는 고령화 시대를 맞이하고 있으며, 이에 따라 노인교육의 중요성은 날로 증가추세에 있다. 노인교육 가운데에서도 문화예술교육의 역할은 적지 않고, 그 중에서도 음악교육은 중요한 부분을 차지한다. 그럼에도 불구하고 노인의 음악교육에 대한 체계적인 이론의 정립이나 나아갈 방향 제시는 아직도 요원하다. 노인을 대상으로 하는 음악의 역할은 현재까지 ‘노인을 위한 음악치료’와 같은 대증적 차원에서의 치료적인 기능이 전부인 상황이다. 그러나 이미 ‘고령화 사회’를 넘어서서 빠른 속도로 초고령 사회로 진입하고 있는 우리 사회는 노년교육과 그 중요한 일부분을 차지하는 노인 음악교육의 중요성을 새롭게 인식해야 한다. 그리고 그러한 노인 대상의 음악교육의 의미는 인간의 노화현상에 따른 여러 증상들에 대한 대증적 차원에서의 ‘음악치료’ 수준에 머물 것이 아니라, 좀 더 적극적이고 선제적인 대응 하에 노인에게도 체계적이고도 지속적인 음악교육을 실시해야 한다는 차원까지 확대되어야 한다. 인생의 황혼기를 맞는 노인에게 음악이 긍정적인 효과를 미칠 수 있다는 인식하에 노인 대상의 음악교육을 위한 체계전인 이론이 먼저 연구되고 선행되어야 할 것이다. 본 논문에서는 우리보다 훨씬 앞서 고령사회에 대한 학문적 인식과 연구가 활발하게 이루어진 독일의 노인교육 사례를 살펴보고, 그를 바탕으로 노인음악교육에 있어서의 새로운 패러다임을 제시하고자 한다.

영문 초록

Because of the advancement of science and medicine and economic society, etc. the whole world is facing the age of aging, and the importance of elderly education is increasing day by day. Among fields of elderly education, the role of culture and arts education is not insignificant; music education is an important part of culture and arts education. Nevertheless, we still have a long way to go to formulate systematic theories of music education for the elderly or to indicate a direction for the very future. The only role of music for the elderly that has been found to date is a therapeutic function at the public level, such as ’a music therapy for the elderly’. But the Korean society, which is turning into a super-aged society at a rapid pace - not a mere aged-society anymore - should be newly aware of the importance of senior education and music education for the elderly (a major part of senior education). Furthermore, the meaning of such music education for the elderly should not be merely ’a music therapy’ for the elderly at the public level showing several symptoms caused by aging, but should be expanded to another level - systematic, continued music education should be delivered even to the elderly in a more active, pre-emptive response. In recognition that music can influence positively the elderly who are entering the twilight of their lives, it is necessary to conduct research on systematic theories of music education for the elderly first. This thesis intends to look at examples of elderly education in Germany, which began to be active in taking academic awareness of aged-society and in conducting research on it much earlier than Republic of Korea; based on the findings of the exploration of the examples a new paradigm for music education for the elderly will be presented.
