영문 초록

The history of the Olympics is always intricately linked to peace, competition, cohesion, and fair play. In order to announce Persia's defeat, the sporting competition of the Olympics since 490 BC, when Pheidippides first played in Athens from Marathon, was inseparable from the national and international level. The selection of host cities, the hosting of the Olympics, and the countries that compete in each city can show the relationship, and the banners represented by the athletes can all be seen as having political significance. The Olympics have often been used to influence the public's mind that the Olympic event itself promotes political change and was difficult to capture unless it was the Olympics. This study will briefly describe several important historical events that have symbolized the relationship between the Olympics and politics through the analysis of the influence of the previous Olympics and the Olympics. In addition, this study investigates the 1988 Summer Olympics held in Seoul and seeks to grasp more clearly and specifically the relationship between the sport and the state. The important implications of this study are not only the case study of the 1988 Summer Olympics but also the historical case study, and also look forward to the Pyeongchang Winter Olympic Games and the Paralympic Games jointly hosted by Pyeongchang and Gangneung. The political implications of these events are categorized at the national, inter-national, and international levels in international relations. The results of this study contribute specifically to policy proposals and broader political areas for Korean case studies.
