국문 초록

본고는 1930년 동아일보 연재 ｢조선소설사｣의 레퍼런스를 추적하여, 기존의 통념이었던 경성제국대학 조선문학전공의 영향력이 미미했음을 입증하고, 초기 한국문학 연구가 매우 풍부한 컨텍스트 속에서 구성되었음을 논증한다. ｢조선소설사｣는 조선의 전통학술, 1920년대부터 이어 온 조선의 민간학술사회의 국민문학론, 최남선의 꾸준한 고문헌 간행활동, 신문학 10주년을 맞이한 카프계열의 ‘신문학사’ 정리, 경성제대의 ‘지나문학’ 전공의 학지(學知) 등을 배경으로 하여 산출된 것이었다. 조선소설사의 기본적인 서술구조는 근대적 문학사보다는 전통적인 시화(詩話)의 형태를 취하고 있다. 서술의 1차자료는 경성제국대학 부속도서관 소장도서, 20세기 재간행된 문집들, 그리고 개인소장 도서들이었다. 최남선은 자료적 토대의 구축, 작품론의 선행연구 등 다방면으로 기여했다. 경성제대 ‘지나문학’ 전공에서 전수된 중국 속문학에 대한 지식은 ｢조선소설사｣에서 비교문학적 시각과 한문학 장르 내의 편차들을 인지하게 해주는 역할을 수행했다. 이를 통해 식민지 학술장에 대한 기존의 협애(狹隘)한 프레임을 넘어서, 장기역사와 동아시아라는 새로운 인식범주가 요구됨을 재확인할 수 있다.

영문 초록

This paper traces the reference of the Dong-A Ilbo serial Korean Historia Novella(朝鮮小說史) in 1930, proves that the influence of the Korean Literature Major at Keijo Imperial University, which was a conventional wisdom, was insignificant, and argues that early Korean literature research was composed in a richer context. Korean Historia Novella is a collection of traditional studies of Korea, theory of national literature in the private academic society of Colonial Korea since the 1920s, Choi Nam-seon’s steady publication of national heritage, summary of ‘History of New Literature’ of the KAPF members celebrating the 10th anniversary of newspaper studies, and Sinology of Keijo Imperial University. The basic narrative structure of Korean Historia Novella takes the form of traditional poetry criticism(詩話) rather than modern literary history. The primary data for the literary history were books owned by the modern library , Korean national heritage republished in the 20th century, and books owned by individuals. Choi Nam-seon contributed in many ways, such as establishing a material foundation and preceding research on individual literary work. The knowledge learned in the Chinese literature major at Keijo Imperial University played a role in recognizing the comparative literary perspective and the deviations within the genre of Sinographic texts. In conclusion, Koren Historia Novella is connected with extremely important themes individually, such as Korean academic tradition, the continuity with ‘Korean Study(朝鮮學)’ in the 1920s, and the existence of Japan’s ‘Sinology’.
