국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 메타버스 개념을 활용한 <구운몽> 읽기 수업 사례를 고찰함으로써 고전 읽기 수업의 방법을 모색하고 교양교육 텍스트로서 <구운몽>의 가치를 재조명해 보고자 하는 것이다. 학생들이 어려워하는 고전 읽기를 제대로 수행하게 하기 위해서 교수자는 무엇을, 어떻게 읽힐 것인가에 대한 고민이 필요하다. 본 수업에서는 시대적 흐름과 학생들의 흥미를 고려하여 <구운몽> 읽기에 메타버스 개념을 접목하였다. 읽기에서는 완독의 중요성, 현재적 관점의 읽기, 자서전적 읽기, 엮어 읽기 등을 강조하였다. 조별 토론과 동료 피드백을 강화함으로써 학생들의 참여와 흥미를 제고할 수 있었다. <구운몽>의 꿈속 세계와 메타버스 가상세계의 유사성에 대한 설명을 통해 학생들은 <구운몽>에 보다 흥미롭게 접근하고 텍스트의 주제를 좀 더 잘 이해할 수 있었다. 또한 학생들은 <구운몽>을 읽고 쓴 에세이에서 사랑과 소통의 방식, 욕망을 대하는 자세, 경험과 행동의 중요성, 현실감 상실의 문제, 통합적 사유의 중요성 등을 주제로 다루었고 이 문제들에 대한 해법을 탐색해 나갔다. 이 문제들은 교양교육의 목표나 <구운몽>의 주제와 크게 다르지 않다는 점에서, 메타버스의 자장 안에서 <구운몽> 읽기 수업이 교양교육의 목표 달성과 <구운몽> 이해에 기여할 수 있음을 확인하였다.

영문 초록

By examining a series of classes engaged in the reading of Kuunmong: The Cloud Dream of the Nine with the concept of the metaverse in mind, this study aims at developing a method of how to instruct students when it comes to reading the classics. This study also aims at getting students to rediscover the value of Kuunmong as a liberal arts education text. In order to ensure that students read difficult classical literature properly, an instructor needs to choose a proper work carefully and to consider how best to let the students read it. In our classes, reading Kuunmong was connected to the concept of the metaverse, taking into consideration the times in which we live, along with the interests of the students. In the reading part, the importance of actually finishing the reading, reading from the view point of the present world, autobiographical reading, reading together with related works, and so forth, were emphasized. Reinforcing group discussion and peer feedback increased the students’ participation and interests. Through the explanation of the similarities between the dream world of Kuunmong and the virtual world of the metaverse, the students approached Kuunmong with more interest and understood the themes better. In addition, in essays they wrote after reading Kuunmong, they dealt with many related topics, such as the methods of love and communication, the attitudes toward desires, the importance of experiences and actions, the problems of losing one’s sense of reality, and the importance of integrated thinking. They also explored the solutions to these problems. These topics are not very different from the goals of liberal arts education and the themes of Kuunmong. In this regard, we can confirm that reading Kuunmong using the concept of the metaverse can contribute to the achievement of such goals and to improving the understanding of Kuunmong as a text.
