국문 초록

중국문학 전공자로서 중국 고대 서사 작품 속에 묘사된 요괴를 찾아내는 일은 그렇게 어려운 일은 아니다. 그러나 문헌 속의 요괴를 형상화하여 그 이미지를 대중화할 수 있는 콘텐츠 제작은 중국문학 전공자가 결코 쉽게 접근할 수 있는 일이 아니다. 이에 본 연구에서는 문헌 속 요괴의 형상을 해당 분야의 전문가와 협업을 시도했다. 요괴의 이미지 형상화는 요괴를 캐릭터로 만드는 가장 초보적인 단계라고 할 수 있다. 이렇게 형상화한 요괴 이미지는 문화콘텐츠로 거듭나 거대한 수익을 창출하거나 하나의 문화현상을 일으키지 않는다면 그 생명력을 유지하기 어렵다. 그럼에도 불구하고 요괴 이미지의 형상화는 사람들의 상상력을 자극하기에 충분히 가치 있는 작업이다. 본 연구에서는 형상화된 중국 요괴 이미지를 NFT로 제작하여 중국 고전의 디지털 산업화 가능성을 살펴보았다. 텍스트 안에서만 존재하던 요괴가 4차 산업혁명시대에도 무한한 가치를 내재한 채 대중화될 수 있다는 사실과 그 필요성을 알 수 있었다.

영문 초록

It is not difficult for those majoring in Chinese literature to find monsters described in ancient Chinese epic stories. However, the production of contents that can embody monsters found in the literature and popularize their images is not an easy task for Chinese literature majors. Therefore, this study made an attempt to collaborate with an expert in the field to materialize the figures of monsters in the literature. Embodying the image of a monster is the most elementary step in making it into a character. However, it is difficult to maintain the vitality of such monster image embodied unless it is recreated as cultural contents, generating huge profits or setting off a cultural phenomenon. Nevertheless, the work of embodying the images of monsters can play a role in arousing people's imagination. In line with the advent of the Metaverse era, this study reviewed the possibility of digital industrialization of Chinese classics by turning the images of Chinese monsters embodied into NFTs. The results showed that monsters, which existed only in the text, could be popularized with infinite value even in the era of the 4th industrial revolution, and such an attempt was necessary. Regardless of whether or not it is profitable, it would be possible to discover other infinite values of Chinese classics by reading them carefully, embodying the attractive images of monsters described in them, and studying and sharing the process of transforming their figures into NFTs.
