국문 초록

지다웨이(1972-현재)는 영어 ‘queer’를 중국어 ‘酷兒’로 번역한 타이완 SF 퀴어소설의 대표 작가이다. 지다웨이는 이분법적이고 양자택일적인 성 정체성을 비판하고 게이·레즈비언에 속하지 않는 다양한 성소수자의 차이성을 포용하기 위해서, 영어의 ‘queer’를 가져왔다. 그리고 유쾌한 아이의 장난처럼 시비를 거는 존재 또는 그런 행위를 표현하기 위해 중국어 ‘酷兒’로 번역했다. 지다웨이는 이런 ‘타이완 퀴어(酷兒)’를 통해 ‘경계’나 ‘범주’가 아니라 ‘태도’를 강조하고자 했다. 이성애 중심적 사회에서 ‘이단’ 취급을 받는 자들이 오히려 자신의 ‘주변적 위치’를 활용하여, 성별 정치 및 정욕에 위선적인 사회에 장난을 거는 능동적인 방식으로 기존의 질서를 느슨하게 만들 수 있기를 바랐다. 1990년대에 본격화된 타이완의 성소수자인권운동은 사회운동과 대학캠퍼스 진영으로 양분되어 진행되었는데, 지다웨이는 문화 패권에 저항하기 위해 기존의 담론의 구조를 전복하는 방식을 선택했다. 그중 본고에서는 지다웨이가 일본 영화감독 오시마 나기사(Oshima Nagisa), 프랑스 영화감독 알랭 레네(Alain Resnais)의 전위적 서사양식을 재해석하여 타이완의 성소수자 의제를 다룬 텍스트를 중심으로 살펴보았다. 그리고 타이완 SF퀴어소설의 대표작으로 알려진 <막(膜)>을 중심으로, 퀴어와 포스트휴먼적 존재와의 관계를 살펴보고, 퀴어를 통해 제시하고자 한 ‘교차성’의 한계를 고찰했다. ‘교차성’은 경계를 넘어서는 것 외에 관계를 맺는 방식에 대한 고민이 동반될 때 의의를 가질 수 있다.

영문 초록

Chi, Ta-wei (1972-present) is the writer representing the Taiwanese SF Ku’er novel, well-known as translating the English word ‘queer’ into the Chinese language ‘酷兒 (Ku’er, Extremely Naughty Child)’. This writer criticized dichotomous and alternative gender identity, and cited the English word ‘queer’, in order to embrace differences of multiple sexual minority not in gay, lesbian. And, he translated the English word ‘queer’ into the Chinese language ‘酷兒 (Ku’er)’, in order to express the state or behavior of picking up quarrels like a naughty boy. Through this ‘Ku’er’, Chi, Ta-wei attempted to emphasize ‘attitude’, instead of ‘boundary’ or ‘category’. He hoped that sexual minority treated as ‘maverick’ in heterosexual-centered society would rather take the initiative to loosen the established order, by doing a mischief to the society which shows a hypocritical attitude toward gender politics and sexual passion, capitalizing on their peripheral position. Taiwanese sexual minority’s human rights movement was organized in a full swing, throughout the 1990s, divided into two, social movement and university campus camp. Chi, Ta-wei pursued the method to get rid of the established discourse structure, for the purpose of resisting against cultural hegemonism. In this regard, this study reinterpreted and investigated avant garde’s narrative pattern that the Japanese movie director Oshima Nagisa and the French movie director Alain Resnais had established, with the main focus on texts covering agenda on Taiwanese sexual minority. This researcher examined the relations with Ku’er and Post-Human presence, mainly focusing on ‘Membrane’ known as the work representing the Taiwanese SF Ku’er novel, to consider a limit of intersectionality intended to present, through ‘Ku’er’. ‘Intersectionality’ can be of significance when there is an accompanying consideration about methods to establish relations, beyond an act of breaking boundary.
