국문 초록

이 글의 목적은 한국 근현대 예술사 구술채록 사업 결과물을 바탕으로 한 한국 근현대 예술인 ‘관계망’ 구축 사업의 의미를 확인하면서 예술사 관련 구술채록 자료의 재구성 방식의 가능성과 한계를 하나의 예시를 통해 사후적으로 검토해보는 것이다. 한국 근현대 예술인 관계망 구축을 위한 기초조사(1차) 및 데이터 전(前)처리 수행연구조사(2차)는 2003년~2019년 연구된 원로 예술가들의 구술채록문을 바탕으로 예술인 사이의 관계망을 그리기 위해 구술채록 자료에서 추출한 예술인들을 혈연, 지연, 학연, 직연, 영향 등의 지표에 따라 집합, 분류, 통합하는 작업이었다. 해당 연구 조사 사업은 정보의 집합 및 분류 체계를 미리 온전히 합의하지 못한 채 작업을 진행하면서 보다 적절한 방법을 동시적으로 만들어나가는 형식을 취할 수밖에 없었다. 말하자면 예술인 사이의 ‘인물 관계망’은 주어진 지표에 의해 결정된 것이 아니라 ‘사후적으로’ 그 의미가 재구성되는 것이라고 할 수 있다. 이 글은 한국 근현대예술사 구술채록연구 문학분야 중 생애사의 중요한 공통점을 공유한 사례인 월남 문인들의 자료를 추출해 ‘관계망’의 사후적 의미 해석을 위한 교두보를 마련해보고자 했다. 따라서 이 연구는 한국 근현대 예술인 관계망 구축을 위한 전 조사 프로젝트의 기획의 가능성과 한계에 연동되어 있다. 이는 일차적으로 기존 문학사 연구에 일정 정도 상식화된 정보들이 ‘관계망’ 연결을 위한 추출 항목들을 통해 어떻게 나타나고 나아가 이와 관련한 구술채록문의 에피소드 내용이 무엇인지를 다루는 과정이었다. 이를 위해 문학분야 구술채록자 중 해당 프로젝트 연구수행자의 연구대상이었던 김규동, 김광림, 김시철, 김우종, 박완서의 경우를 사례로 제시했다. 이와 더불어 예술인 ‘관계망’ 구성 과정에서 보다 더 적극적으로 의미화될 수 있는 부분에 대한 분석을 덧붙여보았다. 이를 위해 김규동, 김광림, 김시철과 김우종, 박완서를 사례를 대별해 문학사와 문단사의 격차를 보여주는 사례로서 언급해볼 수 있었다. 이는 ‘영향’ 지표에 나타난 문학사의 영향력 있는 작가들과 문단 정치의 핵심 이데올로그와의 차이를 확인하는 과정을 통해서도 나타났다고 보인다.

영문 초록

The aim of this article is to examine possibilities and limits of the ways of reconstructing oral data for Korean modern art history by reviewing the project for digital drawing of the modern Korean artists network as an example. This project is aggregating and classifying oral data of life history texts of senior artists which have been collected since 2003 in order to reveal the modern Korean artists network. Researchers extracted all the names of artists from the data and classified them by kinship, ties of schools, regions, occupations, and relations of influence. However, it is hard to anticipate what appears by this work yet. As finding better indicators and working on aggregating and classifying oral data among this project developed at the same time, the meaning of artists network can not come to a conclusion by what prearranged indicators would forecast. Conclusively, the meaning of “artists networks” can be found ex-post after the whole reconstructing process is finished. Among oral data of “literature” area, the writers from North Korea now living or having lived at that time in south Korea, Wolnam Munin(Jakga), who have common ground for their life histories can be selected as examples which may be the links to show what the artists network means by this data reconstructing project. Therefore, this study is inevitably connected to possibilities and limits of the project itself. First of all, it examines how the indicators, reconstructing artists network by, appear in the oral history texts and what the relevant episodes say about them, which are mostly well-known information in modern Korean literary history. Among the collected oral history texts of “literature” area which the present researcher, as well as the project researcher, has covered, Kim Gyu-dong, Kim Kwang-rim, Kim Shi-chol, Kim U-jong, Park Wan-so who are Wolnam Munin(Jakga) and born and lived at about the same time are sellected. Besides, it tries to analyze further about what appears in artists network reconstructing. For this, it argues that the problem of the significant gap between the modern Korean literary history and changes of dominating powers in Korean literary field can be analyzed as noticeable feature in artists network reconstructing process by comparing the cases of Kim Gyu-dong, Kim Kwang-rim, Kim Shi-chol with those of Kim U-jong, Park Wan-so. It is also observed in the contents by the indicator, “influence” which shows the gap between influential writers and main ideologues of literary field.
