상상된 ‘민족’과 실재로서의 난민

국문 초록

이 글은 난민 개념을 통해 해방 이후 한국문학에서 민족과 국가가 자본의 성장에 대응해 변모하는 모습을 고찰하고자 하였다. 특히, 이 글에서는 민족이 절대명제로 떠올랐던 해방기와 냉전체제 아래 한일의 경제협력이 중요시되던 한일협정 전후를 대비하여 민족에 대한 상상력이 어떻게 변화하는지 살펴보았다. 이를 통해 해방기에도 난민을 불량화폐처럼 취급하던 실재가 있었음에도 문학에서는 이를 민족의 이름 아래 봉합하고자 했으며, 한일협정 이후 이러한 실재가 문학적 상상력을 넘어 경제발전의 현실적 압력으로 작동하는 시기가 되면서 은폐되어 있던 난민의 존재마저 다시 호출되게 되었음을 알 수 있었다. 민족문학의 상상력으로도 봉합할 수 없었던 이들 난민에 대한 문제는 화폐라는 주권적 장치를 넘어설 때 보편적 인권의 차원에서 논의될 수 있음 또한 발견할 수 있었다. 결국 이 글에서는 냉전체제 아래 국가가 강조하던 경제 발전이라는 명제가 난민을 생산하는 근대국가 시스템의 연장이었으며 이를 넘어서기 위해서는 민족 개념의 해체적 재구성이 필요함을 알 수 있었다.

영문 초록

This paper attempted to examine the transformation of nation and state in Korean literature in response to the growth of capital after liberation through the concept of refugee. In this paper I presupposes that the relationship with Japan, which drove the desire for the nation, has been important in Korea. According to this premise, this paper compared the period of liberation, when the nation was absolute proposition, and the period around the Korea-Japan Agreement, when the nation faced Japan again. And this paper looked at how the imagination about the nation had changed. Through this, it was found that even though there was a reality that refugees such as overseas Koreans were treated as bad currency during the liberation period, literary imagination sealed it under the name of the nation. In addition, it could be seen that after the Korea-Japan agreement, this reality worked in relation to the slogan of economic development, and even the existence of refugees, which had been concealed by liberation and division, was called again. The issue of refugees, which could not be sealed by the imagination of national literature, can be discussed in terms of universal human rights when it goes beyond the monetary sovereignty of the state. In the end, it was found that the economic development pursued by the state under the Cold War system was an extension of the modern state system that produces refugees, and it is necessary to dismantle and reorganize the national concept to overcome this.
