국문 초록

이 논문은 애국계몽기의 한문학의 현황과 과제를 연구한 논문이다. 애국계몽기는 일제강점기 을사보호조약으로 국권을 침탈당한 1905년에서부터 일본에 의해 강제로 합방되어 식민지가 된 1910년까지를 지칭한다. 애국계몽기는 일련의 선비들이 일제강점에 맞서서 자결과 망명으로 강력하게 저항하던 시기이며, 우리 문학사에서 가장 저항적인 민족문학작품들이 쏟아지던 시기이다. 애국계몽기 인사들의 한문학 작품 속에는 우리 민족에 대한 자아의 각성이 들어 있으며, 구국투쟁을 위한 각종 문학운동을 위시하여, 흥학과 교육을 목표로 하는 절실한 애국계몽의 정신이 들어 있다. 애국계몽기 한문학 작품의 주제의식은 반봉건적이고 민족적이며 대중적인 경향을 드러내고 있으며, 이시기에 와서야 진정한 민족문학과 리얼리즘 문학의 맹아를 볼 수 있었다. 자금까지 진행된 애국계몽기의 한문학에 대한 연구 현황을 분석해본 결과 민족문학의 차원에서 애국계몽사상을 연구한 작가론을 비롯하여, 한시와 한문소설을 중심으로 전개된 문학비평이 활발하게 연구되고 있었다. 한편에서는 구국을 위한 인재양성을 목표로 유교개혁의 차원에서 서구식 학교의 교육에 대한 대응으로 한문교재의 개발이 활발하게 이루어지고 있었다. 이를 바탕으로 바라본 애국계몽기 한문학에 대한 앞으로의 과제는 새로운 작가와 작품을 발굴하여, 그 열정적인 문학적 위상을 올바로 정립시키고 한국문학사의 연장선상에 당당하게 그 위치를 점유하게 하는 작업이 필요하다고 전망 된다. 앞으로 애국계몽기 한국한문학에 대한 연구의 지평이 넓어지기를 기대한다.

영문 초록

This paper is a study of the status and tasks of Korean Chinese literature during the patriotic enlightenment period. The Patriotic Enlightenment refers to 1905 when national sovereignty was invaded, to 1910 when it was forcibly annexed by Japan and colonized. During this period, a series of scholars strongly resisted the Japanese colonial rule with self-reflection and asylum. This period was the time when the most resistant works of Korean literature were pouring in. The works of Chinese literature by patriotic enlightenment figures include self-awareness of the people who wrote with the spirit of losing their country and vomiting blood, and the spirit of desperate patriotic enlightenment aimed at learning and education for the struggle for salvation. It was only at this time that we could see the beginning of true ethnic literature and realism literature. The main theme of the works of Chinese literature during the period of patriotic enlightenment was anti-feudal, national, and popular. As a result of analyzing the current status of research on Chinese literature in the period of patriotic enlightenment, including the author s theory that studied the idea of patriotic enlightenment at the level of national literature, and literary criticism centered on Chinese poetry and Chinese literature novels were actively being studied. On the other hand, the reform of traditional Chinese education was being carried out in response to the education of Western-style schools on the basis of Confucian reform aimed at fostering talent for the old country. Based on this, the future task of Korean literature in the period of patriotic enlightenment is to discover new writers and works to establish the passionate literary status of ethnic literature and realism. As an extension of Korean literature history, it is expected that work will be needed to ensure that the position is firmly occupied. We hope that the field of research on Korean literature during the patriotic enlightenment period will expand in the future.
