국문 초록

21세기는 정보통신에 기반을 둔 지식정보화 사회이다. 인터넷의 발전과 첨단기술기기의 보급은 정보통신 기술, 특히 미디어 분야에 큰 발전을 가져왔다. 이로 인한 양방향 커뮤니케이션이 가능해짐에 따라 미디어의 일방적 수용자는 생산자가 됨과 동시에 이들에게는 자연스럽게 미디어 리터러시가 요구되었다. 양방향 커뮤니케이션을 통한 상호작용은 넘치는 정보 속에서 유용한 사실의 정보를 식별하고, 미디어 속에 내재되어 있는 관념을 파악하는 비판적 사고 능력 뿐 아니라 창의적 생산 능력을 요구한다. 한국어 교육에서 미디어 교육은 본래의 정의 및 목표와 달리 대체로 언어 교육 을 위한 도구로 활용되어 왔다. 학문 목적 한국어 학습자들은 2년에서 4년, 그 이상의 시간을 한국에 머무르며 다양한 미디어를 통해 한국의 사회와 문화를 경험한다. 미디어 교육을 통해 이들이 미디어 속에 구성된 현실을 비판적으로 볼 수 있는 시각과 한국 사회와 한국인에 대한 편견 없는 인식을 갖게 하고 나아가 자신의 생각을 표현하고 공유할 수 있도록 해야 할 것이다. 이에 본 연구는 학문 목적 한국어 학습자를 위한 미디어 수업 모형의 개발을 위한 기초 연구를 진행하였다. 먼저 관련된 이론을 정리하여 미디어 리터러시의 정의와 교육 목표 등을 살펴보고 한국어 교육에서의 미디어 리터러시 관련 선행 연구를 검토하였다. 또 한국어 수업에서 사용 가능한 미디어 교재를 분석하였으며 미디어 리터러시 교육에 대한 한국어 교사의 인식 조사를 통해 한국어 교육에서 미디어 리터러시가 어떻게 이해되고 있는지를 살펴보았다. 그리고 앞선 내용들을 바탕으로 학문 목적 한국어 학습자를 위한 미디어 리터러시 교육을 위해 뉴스를 중심으로 한 미디어 리터러시 수업 모형을 제시하였다. 본 연구의 의의는 학문 목적 한국어 학습자를 위한 미디어 리터러시 교육의 출 발점이 되는 동시에, 제시한 수업 모형을 적용한 후속 연구를 통해 학문 목적 학습자를 위한 미디어 리터러시 교육의 효과를 검증하는 기초가 되어 줄 것이라고 기대되는 점이다.

영문 초록

The 21st century is a knowledge and information-based society, founded on the ground of information and communication. The development of the Internet and the spread of high technological devices has led to a huge development in information and communication technology, especially media. As two-way communication became possible, receptors of the one-way media were naturally called for media literacy as well as being both receptors and producers. Interaction through two-way communication calls for critical thinking, the ability to discern useful information in overflowing data, be able to grasp concepts embedded in the media, and possess creative production abilities. In Korean language education, media has largely been used as a tool for language education, in contrary to its original definitions and goals. KAP learners stay in Korea for two to four years or more, interacting with Korean society and culture through various medias. Through media education, they build a critical view of the reality formed in the media and an unbiased perception of Korean society and Koreans, as well as further be able to express and share their thoughts. This study conducted a basic study to develop a media curriculum for KAP learners. First, we defined the theory behind media literacy. Then we analyzed media textbooks available in Korean classes and discussed how media literacy is being accepted in Korean language education, through the Korean teacher s awareness of media literacy education. Building on previous discussions, a model of a media literacy class centered on news was presented for KAP learners. The significance of this study is expected to serve as a starting point for media literacy education for KAP learners. It is also a basis for verifying the effectiveness of the media literacy education for KAP learners through further research applying the proposed class model.
