국문 초록

본 연구는 한국 근대 역사극의 전반적인 전개 과정과 주요 작품의 역사 전유 양상에 관한 탐구를 목표로 수행되었다. 그 세부 논점으로 본고는 식민시기 역사극 생산의 메커니즘, 영웅담 재현의 특질로서 심미적 인물 형상화, 그리고 ‘망국사’ 모티프의 수용 및 변주 국면에 대한 고찰을 제기했다. 1930년대 중반 이후 망국사 모티프에 영웅담을 결합함으로써 일가를 이룬 역사극은 감정의 과잉과 도덕적 이분법을 극 미학으로 안착시킴으로써 독자와 관객의 입맛에 영합했다. 이러한 대중 전파력과 감응력을 간파한 일제는 1940년대 들어 국민문학의 좌장 격으로 역사극에 주목했고, 전시하 총동원체제의 효과적인 선전 매체로 역사극 공연을 적극 활용했다. 아울러 검열을 통해 일제는 역사극에 재현된 조선의 과거사 전유 방향을 선제적으로 통어했다. 이러한 정책과 제도가 빚어낸 환경은 곧 일제 말기 식민지 로컬의 과거가 제국담론에 포섭될 수 있는 유력한 경로이자, 유일한 퇴로였다. 결과적으로 그와 같은 양면성이 곧 한국 근대 역사극의 실체였던 셈이다.

영문 초록

This study was conducted with the aim of exploring the Deployment and Aspects of Appropriation the History in Modern Korean Historical Play. With that detailed argument, the main building put forward the mechanism of the production of historical plays, the high aesthetic embodiment of aesthetic characters as a characteristic of heroism, and the consideration of the dramatic aspects of national apocalypse motif during the colonial period. The historical play, which became popular in the mid-1930s and thereafter by combining heroism with national apocalypse motif, was adapted to the tastes of readers and audiences by accepting the excess of emotion and moral dichotomy with dramatic aesthetics. Having recognized the power of public dissemination and the ability to respond, the Japanese government paid attention to historical dramas in the 1940s as the head of national literature, and actively utilized historical dramas as an effective propaganda medium for the total mobilization system during wartime. In addition, through censorship, the Japanese preemptively understood the direction of all the historical facts of Joseon, which were reproduced in historical 한국 근대 역사극의 전개 역사 전유 양상 연구 • plays. The environment created by these policies and systems was the only way forward, and the only way out, that the colonial past in the latter part of Japan could be argued over by the imperialists. Such ambivalence was the reality of modern Korean historical plays.
