국문 초록

생활시간조사(time use survey)는 우리나라 국민이 하루 24시간을 어떻게 운용하고 있는지를 살펴봄으로써 국민들의 생활방식(life style)과 삶의 질(QOL : quality of life)을 파악하고 노동, 복지, 문화 관련 정책수립 및 학문적 연구 활동의 기초자료로 제공된다. 우리나라는 통계청에서 1999년부터 매 5년 간격으로 생활시간조사를 실시해 왔으며 2014년에 네 번째 조사가 이루어지고 있다. 국민의 ‘삶의 질’과 ‘고령화’ 문제가 범지구적으로 국가의 주요 아젠다로 등장한 오늘날 ‘생활시간조사’는 과거보다 더욱 더 그 중요성을 인정받고 있다. 본 연구에서는 2004년과 2009년 조사에서 65세 이상 노인층 자료를 발췌하여 노인층의 생활시간 활용양태를 분석하고 비교한다. 연구방법은 2004년, 2009년 조사 각각에서 행동변수 소분류 항목 중 1일 평균 시간사용량 상위 10개 행동변수를 찾아 이를 분석변수로 하여 노인층 군집체를 형성한다. 또한 대응분석(correspondence analysis)을 통하여 형성된 군집체와 행동변수간의 행렬도(biplot)를 작성하고 이를 비교한다.

영문 초록

Time use survey examines how Korean citizens make use of the 24 hours in any given day, thereby aiming to observe citizen lifestyle and quality of life, which is useful in setting the foundation for policy-making and further academic research in areas of labor, welfare, and culture. Statistics Korea has carried out time use survey every five years since 1999, the 2014 survey marking its 4th implementation. Outside of Korea, the U.S. has implemented the survey since 1913, and Sweden, Norway, Japan, and a number of other countries followed suit in the 1970s. As the issues of quality of life and population aging have become major areas of focus in many countries, the time use survey is imparted with greater importance. In this study, we extracted data of aged person over 65 from the surveys taken between 2004 and 2009. For the method of study, we will first find 10 action variables with greatest amount of time use per day in the years 2004 and 2009, respectively, and then try to make clustering of aged person based on the found variables. In addition, we will make a biplot between the clusterings and action variables through correspondence analysis.
