신호기제로서 대학 서열과 자격증 취득의 관계

국문 초록

본 연구에서는 GOMS 자료를 사용하여 노동시장의 신호기제로서 대학서열과 자격취득간의 관계를 분석하였다. 이항 로짓 모형을 이용하여 자격취득의 결정요인을 분석한 결과, 인구통계학적 변인, 전공, 성적 등의 효과를 통제한 후에도 비상위권 대학 출신자들이 상위권 대학 출신자에 비해 자격증 취득확률이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 대학 서열에 따른 자격증 취득의 취업효과를 분석한 결과, 상위권 대학 졸업자이면서 자격취득자의 취업확률이 비상위권 대학 및 전문대학 졸업자이면서 자격취득자의 취업확률보다 더 높았다. 이는 청년층 노동시장에서 자격증 취득이 대학서열이라는 신호와 대체관계를 갖는 것이 아니라 보완관계를 갖는다는 의미이다. 한국노동시장이 직무 중심으로 변화하기 위해서는 자격증의 신호효과를 강화해야 할 필요가 있다.

영문 초록

This study examined the relationship of the ranking of university and the acquisition of certification using Korea Graduate Occupational Mobility Survey Data. The results of the marginal effect logit model indicated that first, the lower ranked school graduates tend to acquire the more certification after controlling demographic variables, major and GPA. This result supported the adverse selection of certification acquisition. Second, the person who graduated the higher ranking university and acquired a certification had relatively higher probability of employment than the person who graduated the lower ranking university and acquired a certification. This result suggested that the certification did not replace but complement the ranking of university in the Korean labor market.
