구조방정식 모형을 이용한 한국 영화 흥행 요인 분석

국문 초록

2006년 1월부터 2009년 6월까지 국내에서 개봉한 영화 230편을 대상으로 9개의 영화관련 외생변수(exogenous variables)와 4개의 잠재변수(latent variables)를 이용하여 영화흥행요인에 대한 구조방정식 모형을 제시하였다. 제시한 모형의 경로계수(path coefficients) 추정결과, 영화의 스타와 감독의 인지도인 영화속성(attribution: ATT)은 영화 흥행(box-office record: BOR)에 양(positive)의 영향력을 가진다. 두 잠재변수 간의 표준화 경로계수가 0.4793(p값<0.001)으로 유의하게 나타났다. 그리고 개봉시기, 배급사의 역량과 관련된 영화 외적인 속성(external factor: EF) 역시 영화흥행에 양(positive)의 영향력을 가졌으며, 이때의 표준화 경로계수가 0.1567(p값<0.001)로 유의적이다. 그러므로 영화제작관련 속성이 영화흥행에 미치는 영향력이 영화 외적속성의 영향력의 3배 이상 됨을 알 수 있다. 한편, 영화의 평가(appraise: APP)는 영화흥행에 양(positive)의 영향을 미칠 것이라는 연구가설이 기각되었다. 또한 영화제작관련 속성이 영화평가에 미치는 표준화 경로계수가 0.4063(p값<0.001)으로 유의하게 나타났다. 자료분석은 SAS 9.1의 PROC CALIS를 이용한 공분산 구조분석을 통해 분석하였다.

영문 초록

We propose a structural equation model of success factors of Korean theatrical movies, in which there are 9 exogenous variables and 4 latent variables. 230 Korean theatrical movies were collected from Jan/2006 to June/2009. In path analysis with 4 latents variables, the standardized path coefficient between the movie attribution and the box-office records is 0.4793 (p_value < 0.001), which implies that the movie attribution has the positive effect on the success of theatrical movies. And the standardized path coefficient between the movie external factor and the box-office records is 0.1567 (p_value < 0.001), which also implies that the movie attribution has the positive effect on the success of theatrical movies. Further, the positive effect of the movie attribution on the success of theatrical movies is three time higer than that of the movie external factor. Meanwhile, the standardized path coefficient between the movie appraise and the box-office records is not significant. We discussed the possible reasons why not. Data were analyzed using the SAS 9.1 systems’s PROC CALIS.
