국문 초록

Fay-Herriot 모형은 지역 수준(area-level)의 자료를 기반으로 유용한 공변량(covariate)을 활용하여 관심 있는 소지역 평균을 추정하기 위해 널리 사용되고 있는 대표적인 소지역 모형(small area model)이다. 많은 분야에서 공변량은 측정오차(measurement error)가 있을 수 있으며, 결과변수와 단순한 선형적 관련성이 아닌 복잡한 비선형적 관련성을 가지고 있을 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 공변량의 측정오차와 비선형적 관련성을 반영할 수 있는 확장된 Fay-Herriot 소지역 모형을 제안하고자 한다. 특히 비선형적 관련성을 반영하기 위하여 벌점 스플라인(penalized spline)을 활용한 준모수적(semiparametric) 회귀모형을 고려하였으며, 측정오차 변수에 비확률성(nonstochastic)을 가정하는 기능적 측정오차 모형(functional measurement error model)을 고려하였다. 모형 적합 및 모수 추정을 위하여 MCMC(Markov chain Monte Carlo) 방법을 기반으로 하는 계층적 베이지안 접근법을 사용하였다. 두 가지 비선형적 함수를 사용한 모의실험자료를 통해 제안된 모형의 우수성을 확인하였고, 실제 자료 적용을 위해 국민건강영양조사의 제6기 3차년도(2015) 자료를 사용하여 연령과 성별로 분류된 소그룹별 혈압을 추정한 결과, 본 연구에서 제안한 모형의 성능이 더 우수함을 보였다.

영문 초록

Fay-Herriot model is a representative small area model that is widely used to estimate the small area mean using useful covariate. In many research areas, some covariates could have measurement error and a complex associations with outcome variables. In this paper, we propose an extended Fay-Herriot model that can reflect the non-linear association and measurement error of covariate. Especially, for smoothing, we use penalized spline based on truncated polynomial basis functions with fixed knots and we consider a functional measurement error model. To fit the model and estimate parameters, we conduct hierarchical Bayesian approach based on MCMC (Markov chain Monte Carlo). We check the performance of our model based on two non-linear functions in simulation studies and we use the sixth KNHANES (Korean national health and nutrition examination survey) data for application. As a result for application, the performance of the proposed model is better based.
