귀여움과 장애, 기형적인 것의 향유

국문 초록

이 연구는 대중문화 콘텐츠에서 등장하는 귀여움을 가시적인 낙인이 없는 장애상황으로 규정한다. 귀여움은 미(美)와 그로테스크의 경계에 걸쳐 있는 대단히 불균형한 감정이다. 귀여움은 기형적인 존재가 놓여 있는 장애상태를 전혀 다른 성격의 판타지의 형태로 인지되는 독특한 감정인 것이다. 작고 무력한 존재가 전적으로 자신의 보호 아래 있다는 생각이 황홀감으로 바뀔 때 귀여움의 판타지가 작동한다. 미성숙한 것을 아름다움으로 긍정하려는 마음의 준비가 있기 때문에, 일단 귀여움이라는 단어가 개입되면 대중들은 금방 황홀감에 빠져 귀여움의 결핍상황을 인지하지 못할 뿐이다.따라서 친밀성의 사회에서는 귀여움에 내재된 장애상태를 쉽게 인지 하지 못한다. 결핍과 불편함이 친밀감 속으로 숨어들었을 때, 이를 구별해 내기가 쉽지 않은 것이다. 오히려 이례적이고 강렬한 자극을 갈구하는 대중문화사회에서 장애는 더욱 매력적인 상품으로 각광받는다. 이 연구는 귀여움의 본질을 유아적 판타지로 규정하고, 걸그룹 소녀, 반려동물, 오타쿠의 캐릭터를 통해서 귀여움의 결핍상황이 대중적 유희의 대상이 되는 과정을 고찰하고자 한다. 첫째, 걸그룹의 글로벌한 인기의 요인을 작고 앙증맞은 미니어처에 대한 우월한 관음의 욕망으로 이해한다. 미니어처적인 의미를 갖는 걸그룹 소녀들, 경배와 경멸의 시선을 동시에 받는 소녀들의 무력한 상황이 글로벌한 문화상품이 되는 동력이 되고 있다. 둘째, 반려동물의 등장을 인구수 급감으로 인한 사회적 공백을 메우려는 필연적인 현상으로 파악한다. 반려동물이 인간 사회 내부로 들어오면서 생기는 공포를 귀요미 동물에 대한 행복으로 바꾸어 내는 공포와 매혹의 착시 현상을 다룬다. 셋째, 오타쿠들은 캐릭터가 놓여 있는 현실 서사를 삭제하고 캐릭터의 외양과 관련된 데이터베이스만을 소비하는 동물적인 삶을 보여준다. 이들은 원본의 진정성에 애착을 갖지 않으며, 인간성이 동물성과 데이터베 이스 수준으로 분열된 채 공존하는 장애상황 자체가 유희의 테마가 됨을 고찰한다. ‘걸그룹 소녀→ 반려동물→ 오타쿠 캐릭터’로 이어지는 과정을 ‘미니어 처에 대한 관음의 쾌감→ 공포와 매혹의 착시→ 허구적 데이터베이스의 향유’에 대응시켜 장애 상태가 글로벌한 문화적 유희의 대상으로 이행하는 양상을 고찰하고자 한다.

영문 초록

This study defines a situation of disability where there is no visible stigma of cuteness in modern society. Cuteness is a very unbalanced feeling that crosses the border between beauty and grotesque. Cuteness is a very unique emotion that is recognized in the form of a fantasy of a different nature as a condition of dis ability in which a deformed being is placed. Fantasy of cuteness turns into ecstasy in the idea that a small helpless being is entirely under his protection. Because there is preparation of mind to express immature for beauty, once the word cuteness is involved, the public is instantly ecstatic and does not appreciate the lack of cuteness . In a society of intimacy, disability is not easily recognized. When scarcity and inconvenience move into intimacy, it is not easy to distinguish. In a popular cultural society, which crave unusual and intense stimulation, disability is seen as a more attractive product. The study defines the essence of cuteness as an infant fantasy and examines the lack of cuteness as the subject of popular entertainment through girl groups, animal companions and cariters of otaku. First, I understand the global popularity of girl groups as the superior voyeurer s desire for small, dainty miniatures. The helpless situation of girl bands and girls who are looked upon as miniatures and worship and contempt at the sametime is becoming a global cultural product. Second, we see the presence of pets as an inevitable phenomenon to fill the social vacuum caused by the rapid decline in population. It is an optical illusion of fear and fascination that turns fear, which is formed, animal companions entering human society into happiness for cute animals. Third, otaku shows an animal life by deleting the real-life epic where the character is placed and consuming only the database related to the character s appearance. They are not attached to the authenticity of the original, and consider that the disability situation in which human nature collapses disastrously at the leve of animal nature and database itself becomes the theme of entertainment. The process of connecting ‘girl groups→animal companions→otaku characters’ is reflected in ‘enjoyment of miniatures→an optical illusions of fear and fascination→the enjoyment of fictional databases’, cosnider that the disability status is transferred to the global entertainment market.
