국문 초록

이 논문에서는 현재(2012~2016년) 대전 지역에서 채록된 6ㆍ25 전쟁 체험담을 대상으로 유형별 특징과 존재 양상에 대해 알아보았다. 현존하는 대전 지역의 6ㆍ25 전쟁 체험담의 유형은 경험의 주체가 군인이었는가, 민간인이었는가에 따라 전투체험담과 민간인 전쟁 체험담으로 구분할 수 있다. 전투 체험담은 경험의 주체는 군인이고, 주체와 갈등하는 객체는 적군으로 설정되어 6ㆍ25 전투에 참전하여 겪은 일들에 대한 담화이다. 민간인 전쟁 체험담은 피란민으로서 전쟁을 겪었느냐, 주거 지역에 잔존한 민간인으로서 전쟁을 겪었느냐에 따라 피란 체험담과 민간인 전쟁 체험담으로 나뉜다. 피란 체험담은 전쟁으로 인해 생존의 터전을 잃고 떠돌아다니며 고생한 경험을 이야기한 담화로서, 경험의 주체인 피란민과 갈등하는 객체는 전쟁 자체라 볼 수 있다. 민간인 전쟁 체험담은 전쟁이 나서 자신이 주거하고 있는 지역을 점령한 이가 이북 진영의 인민군인가, 이남 진영인 남한의 군인과 경찰인가에 따라 적군에 의한 피해담과 아군에 의한 피해담으로 나뉜다. 적군에 의한 피해담은 인민군이나 인민군에 협력한 이남 진영의 ‘지역 빨갱이’ 및 빨치산이 갈등의 객체로 설정되어 경험의 주체인 민간인을 죽이거나 고초를 가한 담화의 서사이다. 아군에 의한 피해담은 우리 군인 및 경찰이 특정 지역민을 빨갱이로 지목하여 이들을 죽이거나 고초를 가한 담화의 서사이다. 대전 지역 6ㆍ25 전쟁체험담의 존재 양상은 다음과 같다. 첫째 평화롭던 어느 날 ‘갑작스럽게 전쟁이 발발했다’는 담화이다. 둘째 전쟁의 참상을 그리는 담화로서 주로 총칼이나 폭격으로 서로를 죽이고 죽는 전투의 참상, 굶주림의 참상으로 표현된다. 셋째 군인과 경찰에게서 받은 고초 담화로서 전쟁 직후 인민군과 지역 빨갱이 및 빨치산 등 이북 진영에게 받은 고초담, 수복 후 이남의 군인과 경찰에게 받은 고초담이 그것이다. 마지막으로 전쟁 중에 빛을 발하는 인간애로, 죽을 위기에 처한 이웃을 도운 미담들이 여기에 속한다. 대전 지역의 6ㆍ25 전쟁체험담은 강력한 담화 욕구를 기반으로 하고 있다는 점에서 일차적으로 구비문학적 연구 가치를 지닌다. 또한 대전 지역에서 있었던 집단 학살 담화가 전승 집단 내에서 실제 지명과 함께 단편적으로라도 반드시 언급이 된다는 점과 이것이 일부 와전되어 담지되는 현상을 통해 경험담의 전설화 현상을 발견할 수 있다는 측면에서도 구비문학적 가치가 있다고 할 수 있다.

영문 초록

After collecting and recorded stories about the Korean War experiences in the Daejeon area for a period from 2012 to 2016, this paper investigated the characteristics and existence aspects of the stories according to their types. The types of stories about the Korean War experiences currently available in the Daejeon area can be divided into stories about combat experiences and stories about civilians’ war experiences according to whether the subjects of the experiences are soldiers or civilians. The stories about combat experiences are discourses on the experiences of battles in the Korean War, with soldiers being set as the subjects of the experiences, and enemy forces as the objects that came in conflict with the subjects. The stories about civilians’ war experiences are divided into stories about war experiences as refugees and stories about war experiences as civilians according to whether they experienced the war as refugees or civilians who remained in their residential regions. The stories about experiences as refugees are discourses on hardships during the war as wanderers leaving their homes due to the war, and it may be said that the object in conflict with refugees, who are the subjects of the experiences, is the very war itself. The stories about war experiences as civilians are divided into stories about damage by the enemy and stories about damage by our troops according to whether the occupiers of one’s own residential region were North Korean people’s army, or South Korean army or police. The stories about damage by the enemy are narratives in which the North Korean people’s army or ‘local commies’ and partizans in South Korea taking the side with the North Korean people’s army, who are set as the objects of conflict, killed or imposed hardships on civilians, who are the subjects of experiences. The stories about damage by our troops are narratives in which our army and police killed or imposed hardships on residents of specific regions, pointing out them as commies. The existence aspects of stories about Korean War experiences in the Daejeon region are as follows: The first is discourses saying that one day ‘the war broke out suddenly.’ The second is discourses depicting the horrors of the war, such as hunger and mutual killing in battles with guns & swords or bombing. The third is discourses on hardships caused by army or police. They include stories about hardships inflicted by the North Korean camp such as the North Korean people’s army and local reds & partizans directly after the outbreak of the war, and stories about hardships inflicted by South Korean army and police after recapture. The last one is humanity having shone in the war. Beautiful stories about helping neighbors in peril of death fall under this. The stories about the Korean War experiences in the Daejeon region primarily have research value as oral literature in that they are based on strong desire for discourse. In addition, it may be said that they have value as oral literature because discourses on slaughter committed on a mass scale in the Daejeon region are surely mentioned within the transmission group, albeit partially, with actual place names, and the phenomenon of stories about the experiences being legendized is found from the phenomenon that some of the discourses are misrepresented and supported.
