비극적 현실과 해원의 모색

국문 초록

정찬의 단편소설 <정결한 집>은 실제 사건을 모티브로 취함으로써 비극의 시대에 존재하는 소설과 소설가의 의미와 역할이 무엇인지에 대해 뜻 있는 질문을 던지게 하는 작품이다. 이 소설은 항간을 떠들썩하게 했던 패륜의 한 사례를 형상화한다. 다름 아닌, 몇 년 전 어머니와 둘이 살던 고등학생이 성적 조작을 들킬까봐 어머니를 잔혹하게 살해하고 방안에 몇 달간이나 유기하여 우리 사회에 충격을 준 사건이다. 상징적 ‘부친살해’를 통한 ‘사회적 입사(入社)’가 제대로 이루어지지 않을 때, 개인과 사회는 여러 가지 병리적 현상에 직면한다. <정결한 집>에 발생한 모친살해도 여기에 그 출발을 두고 있다. 소년의 어린 나이에 아버지가 어머니가 아닌 다른 여자와 살기 위해 집을 나간 후 남편을 잃은 어머니의 꿈은 아들인 소년에게 투사된다. 어머니는 소년의 성적이 떨어진다는 이유로 아들에게 가혹한 폭력을 행사했고, 아들은 마침내 그 폭력을 모방하여 어머니를 살해한다. 그 과정에서 반응적 힘의 유형인 원한, 가책의 내면화, 죄의식이 소년과 어머니에게 형성된다. 본고는 그 내면의 양상들을 분석하고, 폭력의 이면에 놓여 있는 사회구조의 문제를 가늠해보고자 하였다. 아울러 소설가의 상상력에 의해 구상된 명희라는 인물을 통해 이 비극에 대한 위로와 해원의 가능성을 타진해 보고자 하였다. 그 위로와 해원의 가능성은 ‘밤하늘에 드믄드문 빛나는 별’처럼 아스라하게 그려지고 있다. 작가 정찬은 비평가들에게서 종종 <신성이 폐기된 시대의 샤먼>으로 불리곤 했다. <정결한 집>은 샤먼으로서의 소설가가 서사의 심층에 숨어있다는 점에서 끝내 비극적이다.

영문 초록

Jeong Chan’s short story “Pure House” is a work that makes meaningful questions about the meaning and role of novels and novelists in the era of tragedy by taking actual events as a motive. This novel depicts a case of a obliquity that has made a stir. It was not the case that a high school student who lived with a mother a few years ago murdered her mother cruelly for grades manipulation and shocked our society for several months in the room. When the “Social-growth” through the symbolic “father murder” is not done properly, individuals and society face various pathological phenomena. The murder of a mother in a “Pure house” has its departure here. When a young man’ father leaves his home to live with a woman other than his mother, the dream of the mother who lost her husband is projected to the son. The mother exercised severe violence to the son because of the boy ’s poor performance, and the son finally imitates the violence and murdered his mother. In the process, the type of reactive force, grudge, internalization of guilt, guilt is formed in boy and mother. This paper analyzes the internal aspects of the violence and seeks to quantify the problem of social structure that lies behind violence. In addition, I tried to explore the possibilities of willow and ‘Hae-won’ of this tragedy through the person named Myung Hee envisioned by the novelist ’s imagination. The possibility of the willow and ‘Hae-won’ is drawn haze like ‘the star shining in the night sky’. The writer Jeong Chan was often referred to as “the shaman of the era of divinity” by critics. The is tragically endless in that the novelist as a shaman is hidden in the depths of the narrative.
