중학생 교과 흥미 잠재프로파일 유형에 따른 학업참여와 학업성취도의 차이

국문 초록

본 연구는 개인 중심적 접근(person-centered approach)에 의해 중학생의 수학, 국어, 영어 교과에 따른 차별적인 흥미 프로파일 유형을 확인하고, 각 프로파일의 특성을 이해하기 위해 프로파일에 따른 학업참여와 학업 성취도(성취수준)의 차이를 확인하는 것에 있다. 이를 위하여 한국교육과정평가원에서 2012년도 중학교 3학년 학생들을 대상으로 실시한 국가수준 학업성취도 평가의 12,318명(남: 6,093명, 여: 6,253명) 데이터를 활용하여 잠재프로파일 분석(latent profile analysis)을 실시하였 다. 연구 결과, 중학생의 교과흥미 잠재프로파일은 교과흥미의 수준에 따라 4가지 유형(고교과흥미형, 중고교과흥미형, 중저교과흥미형, 저교과흥미형)으로 분류되었다. 다음으로 교과흥미프로파일 유형에 따라 학업참여와 학업성취도(성취수준)의 차이를 분석한 결과, 흥미의 수준에 따라 적응적 관련성이 있음을 확인하였다. 마지막으로 교과흥미프로파일의 특성에 관한 의의와 과정중심평가에 따른 교수·학습 및 평가에 대한 교육적 시사점에 관하여 논의하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to identify latent profiles of subject-specific interests and also to explore their relationships with academic engagement and academic achievement. Survey data and achievement scores were obtained from National Assessment of Educational Achievement (NAEA) database. The NAEA date includes samples of 9th grader from all over the country. Our final sample was 12,318 students. By applying latent profile analysis to 12,318 middle school student, four distinct latent profiles of subject-specific interests were found: high subject-specific interests, above average subject-specific interests, below average subject-specific interests, deficient subject-specific interests. To explore the features of profiles, their relationships with engagement and achievement were compared. The students included in the high subject-specific interests class seemed the most adaptive in terms of their academic engagement and achievement level. Suggestions for educational implications were discussed.
