저출산·고령사회 대비 교육의 관점에서 본 ‘가족’에 대한 초등교과교육의 실태 및 방향에 관한 연구

국문 초록

이 연구는 저출산·고령사회 대비 교육의 관점에서 초등학교에서 ‘가족’의 주제를 다루고 있는 교과에서의 학습내용요소들 간의 특징과 관계를 교과별, 학년별로 모색하고 교과서의 삽화에 등장하는 가족의 유형을 분석하여, 그 현상을 파악하고자 한 연구이다. 아울러 저출산·고령사회 대비 학교교육의 목표에 내용체계에 대한 기존의 연구를 중심으로 이를 초등학교 교육의 수준으로 재구성함으로써, 초등학교에서 저출산·고령사회 대비 교육으로서 ‘가족’에 대한 교육을 어떻게 전개할 수 있는가의 방향을 탐색하고자 하였다. 연구대상이 된 교과는 통합교과, 국어, 도덕, 사회, 실과의 5개 교과였으며, 이들 교과의 교육과 정해설에서 나타난 ‘가족’에 대한 학습내용요소를 분석하였다. 교과서는 일부 개정 전 교과서를 포함하여 삽화로 등장하는 가족유형의 모습을 양적, 질적으로 분석하였다. 연구결과, ‘가족’에 대한 학습내용요소는 크게 가족에 대한 기본 이해, 가족관계, 가족의 삶에 대한 조건 등으로 대별되었으며, 여기에는 교과간, 학년간 편차가 존재하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 교과서에 등장한 가족의 유형과 모습을 양적, 질적으로 파악해 볼 때, 저출산과 고령사회의 문제를 해결하고 대비하기에는 다소 부족한 면이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 한편, 초등학교 교육의 수준과 범주를 고려한 저출산·고령사회 대비 학교교육의 목표에 내용체계를 제시함으로써, 실제적으로 각 교과, 각 학년에서 다루어지는 내용과 통합적으로 연계할 수 있는 근거와 체계를 마련하였다. 이 연구가 교사나 관련자들에게 ‘가족’에 대한 초등 교육의 기본적 목표 달성은 물론, 저출산·고령사회 대비교육으로서의 교육 목표를 동시에 달성할 수 있게 하는데 중요한 교육적 관점과 방향을 제시해 줄 것으로 기대한다.

영문 초록

This research aims to grasp the current state of elementary school curriculum on family’ from the perspective of low birth and aging society preparation by analyzing the characteristic and the relationship of educational elements, categorized by subject, grades, and by examining the illustration of family types in textbooks. With existing researches studying how to prepare for low birth and aging society through education, this research reorganizes the content introduced on previous studies into elementary school education level curriculums in a bid to find an appropriate direction for the future education on the topic of family’. There were five subjects chosen as subjects for this research, which is general subject, Korean, ethics, society, and practical course. The educational elements on ‘family’ included in the curriculum guide for each subject were analyzed. Illustrations depicting family types in each textbook, including some pre-revision textbooks, were quantitatively and qualitatively analyzed. From the research, educational elements on ‘family’ were generally classified into basic understanding on family, family relationship, and qualifications for family life. There existed a deviation depending on the subject and the grade. In comprehending the types and forms of family depicted in textbooks, both quantitatively and qualitatively, it seemed that existing textbooks were insufficient to solve the issue of low birth and aging society and also the way to prepare for such issue. On the other hand, this research is prepared of evidence and a system that proposes a possible content, and is developed by considering the educational level and category at elementary schools, which can be linked to curriculums currently being taught to each grade. I expect this research can help not only teachers but also and related personnel to fulfill the essential goal of elementary education on ‘family’. This research also can be used as an important educational tool in suggesting the direction on teaching how to prepare for low birth and aging society.
