한국청소년의 정의사회에 대한 인식

국문 초록

본 연구는 청소년들이 현재의 한국사회를 어떻게 바라보고 있는가 알아보기 위해 수행되었다. 청소년들은 그들 나름의 시각으로 한국사회를 바라보며 그들의 생각을 인터넷이나 촛불집회등을 통해 나타내기도 하였다. 그러나 이러한 청소년들의 생각을 정확히 파악하기 위한 노력은 부족한 것이 현실이다. 따라서 본 연구는 그들이 우리사회를 어떻게 바라보고 있는가를 계층관, 노동관, 정의관, 평등관, 직업관, 인생관으로 나누어 조사하였다. 응답을 분석한 결과 청소년들은 우리사회를 전반적으로 부정적으로 보는 경향이 있었다. 우리사회가 정의롭지 않다고 생각하고 있으며 가장 큰 이유는 부정부패가 많고 정당한 방법으로 돈을 벌지 않는 경우가 많으며 빈부차가 너무 크다는 이유를 들고 있다. 그렇다면 청소년들이 생각하는 사회정의란 무엇일까? 청소년들이 생각하는 정의로운 사회는 ‘노력한 만큼 성공하는 사회’이다. 계층을 결정하는 가장 중요한 요인 은 소득과 재산이었다. 청소년들은 좋은 대학에 진학하는 것이 부모세대보다 더 중요해 졌으며 좋은 대학에 진학하기 위해서는 본인의 노력과 지능, 부모의 경제적 지원이 중 요한 영향을 미친다고 보고 있었다. 인생에서 가장 중요한 것으로 ‘내 삶에 만족하는 것’을 꼽았으며 사회적으로 성공하는데 개인의 능력 외에도 연줄이 중요하다고 응답하였다. 직업관에 대한 조사결과, 존경해야할 직업으로는 선생님을, 월급을 많이 받아야할 직업은 의사, 사회적 지위가 높은 직업으로는 정치가를 꼽았다. 권력과 소득, 취업기회 에 있어 불평등이 심하며 육체노동과 정신노동의 가치가 다르지 않고 따라서 임금차이 도 정당하지 않다는 인식을 갖고 있었다. 이러한 결과와 관련하여 문제점 및 추후과제 를 논의하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to investigate of adolescent's perception of Korean society. The survey was conducted over 710 highschool students. The statistics reveal that adolescents view the Korean society negatively. They regard the society as unjust. The main reason was that it is corrupted; that many people make money by dishonest means; and that the gap between the rich and the poor is too wide. Then, how does adolescents define social justice? The just society they think is 'the society in which people succeed depending on their efforts.' The most significant factors which determine a social stratum were income and property. Adolescents believe that it has become more important to get into prestigious universities compared to their parents' generation and that a student's efforts, intelligence and parents' financial support play crucial role in order to enter those universities. They choose 'contentment in their lives' as the most essential aspect of life. They think they need connections or influence as well as their efforts in order to achieve social success. In terms of career, adolescents choose a teacher as the most respectable job; a doctor as the job which deserves the largest payment; a politician as the job of the highest social status. They also have the perception that power, income, and job opportunities are not equally distributed and that there is no difference between physical and mental labor and thus the gap between their payment is unfair. This article discusses the problems and the research which needs to be followed according to the results of the survey.
