관광학 전공 학생들의 실습가치 인식과 실습유형 선호도

국문 초록

대학교육에서 현장실습이 점점 강조되고 있는 현실에서 본 연구는 관광을 전공하는 학생들이 인식하고 있는 실습에 대한 가치와 이들이 선호하는 실습유형에 대해 살펴보았다. 선행연구에서 도출된 실습가치 26개 항목과 실습교육의 운영에 구체적으로 고려해야 하는 5개 요인을 조합해 도출된 여덟 개의 실습유형을 조사에 이용하였다. 자료수집은 경북지역에 소재한 대학에서 관광을 전공하고 있는 학생들을 대상으로 이루어졌으며 132명이 조사에 참여하였다. 분석방법으로는 문화합의분석(cultural consensus analysis)을 이용하였는데, 문화합의분석은 응답자들의 동의유형을 통해 문화적으로 정의된 올바른 답을 찾아내는 것을 목적으로 하는 조사방법이다. 분석결과 실습가치와 선호하는 실습유형에 학생들 간에 응집된 문화가 존재하지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 문화적 합의가 없어 의미가 약화되었지만 학생들이 가장 중요하게 여기는 실습가치는 “외부에서 보는 업무와 현실적인 업무의 차이 파악”으로 나타났다. 본 조사에서 문화적 합의가 관찰되지 않은 것은 현장실습이 학생들에게 미지의 영역이며 또한 다측면적인 인지대상임을 반영한다고 할 수 있다. 또 이러한 결과는 실습과 목의 개발에 있어 학생보다는 교수와 기업실무자의 전문성에 의존한 위로부터의 결정방식이 적합함을 시사한다고 할 수 있다.

영문 초록

Field experiences have been gaining importance in higher education in Tourism.,This study examined the benefits of field studies classes and type of the class formats preferred by students. 26 benefit items adopted from another study and eight different class formats created by the researchers were used for the study. 132 students majoring in tourism in a university based in Kyungsangbuk-do region participated in the survey, and the data was analyzed using cultural consensus analysis. Cultural consensus analysis aims to find culturally defined correct answer using patterns of agreement among respondents. The result shows that there was no consensus in the two proposed areas. Although less meaningful due to the lack of consensus, "understanding the gap between the external view and first-hand experience of the job" appeared to be the most important perceived benefit associated with field studies. The lack of consensus might be due to that field class is relatively unknown an area for the students with only vague knowledge of what to expect and/or it is a multifaceted theme that contains varied aspects to consider. Such a result seems to suggest that developing field education program requires not so much inputs from the students but it needs to rely more on knowledges and experiences of educators and practitioners.
