국문 초록

이 논문은『최척전』의 사회치유적 의의를 밝힌 것이다. 역사적 트라우마에 오염된 사회서사를 어떻게 조정하고 있는지 이 작품에 드러난 사회적 차원의 치유 양상을 살펴보았다. 임진왜란 이후 조선에서 주류적인 사회서사로서 강력한 힘을 발휘하던 예학이데올로기가 드러낸 심각한 병리현상들을 중심으로『최척전』에서 사회적 차원의 치유가 어떻게 시도되고 있는지를 밝혔다. 이 논의를 통해 다음과 같은 사실이 드러났다.『최척전』의 서사는 예학이데올로기에 대한 거울 역할을 함으로써 현실의 사회서사를 타자화할 수 있는 길을 열어준다. 임진왜란이라는 역사적 트라우마를 다루면서도 절망적 상황을 극복하고 궁극적으로 희망을 성취하는 새로운 서사를 전개함으로써 기존의 서사, 특히 예학이데올로기에 오염된 사회서사로부터 벗어나도록 해준다. 즉, 열녀담론이라는 죽음의 서사에 대해 맹목적인 자살과 죽음에 대한 반성과 각성을 이끌어 내고, 절의의 위계화로 인한 사회적 반목과 분열의 서사를 포용과 화합의 서사로 교정하며, 종법적 가족구조로의 재편으로 인한 사회적 균열과 소외에 대해 회복과 대통합의 서사를 통해 사회적 안전망에 대한 대안을 제공한다. 결론적으로, 이 작품은 최척 일가의 재회를 통해서 전쟁으로 파괴된 사회에 희망과 회복과 통합의 길을 제시하면서 심리적 안정과 사회적 화합의 사회치유를 수행한다. 또한 전쟁의 위험이 상존하는 현실 속에서 장차 닥칠지 모르는 전쟁에 대비하여 어떻게 대처해야 할 것인지를 제시해줌으로써 예방적 치유도 수행하고 있다.

영문 초록

This paper reviews the meaning of Choi-cheok Jeon from the perspective of social healing. The pattern of social healing of historical trauma and the social narrative was reviewed. After the invasion of Korea by the Japanese from 1592 to 1598, the ideology of Yehak that had a hold over mainstream society during the Josun Dynasty era started to show serious symptoms of being having issues. This paper looks at how social healing is being carried out in those terms. The following has been identified. The narrative in Choi-cheok Jeon serves as a mirror that reflects the Yehak ideology so that the social narrative can be seen from the perspective of the Other. While it addresses Japanese invasions, the narrative evolves in a way that achieves ultimate hope so that overcoming the social narrative that has been contaminated by the Yehak ideologoy can be possible. That is, reflection and criticism about reckless suicides or deaths under the discourse of virtuous woman are offered and honor is structured in hierarchy so that it is changed into a narrative of acceptance and harmony. Social disharmony and isolation that has been caused by rigid family structure are reviewed to offer a new alternative for a social safety net. In conclusion, this piece reunites the family of Choi-cheok to offer hope and a way for social cohesion, as well as psychological stability and social healing. As the threat of war always exists in reality, the piece offers ways of coping in the future, thus serving another role in preventing healing.
