국문 초록

병굿은 병인(病因)을 사물(邪物)로 간주하고, 그것을 저주하여 병몰(病沒)을 극복하는 주술행위이다. 오늘날에는 충청도 앉은굿의 현장에서 대수대명(代數代命), 검무(劍舞), 착귀매지(捉鬼埋地), 화전치기(火箭--), 백살풀이(百煞--) 등의 형태로 전승되고 있다. 병굿의 연행은 여느 전통연희와 비교해도 손색이 없을 만큼 연극적 속성이 강하다. 엄격한 내적 원리에 의해 레퍼토리가 정교하게 구조화되어 있으며, 일종의 '판'에는 그럴듯한 모방이지만 독특한 개성을 지닌 신장(神將)과 신병(神兵)이 존재한다. 그리고 신장과 신병은 병인(病因)을 제거하기 위해 일관된 목적으로 격렬한 언어와 몸짓을 전개한다. 이로써 '판'은 역동적인 움직임으로 가득 찬다. '판'에서 이루어지는 역동적인 움직임은 '행위전승'과 '물질전승'을 기반으로 삼고 있는데, 그것은 '희소성'이 내재되어 있을 뿐만 아니라, 한민족의 자연관이나 신앙관에 대한 호기심을 유발할 수 있는 '독창성'이 내재되어 있다. 따라서 시나리오, 캐릭터, 디지털 부적 등 문화산업 분야와 연계를 목적으로 그 개발 가능성을 진단할 수 있다. 우선 현장의 연행으로부터 극성(劇性)을 추출할 수 있고, 실연(實演)을 통해 치유의 효과를 거두었다는 영험담이 회자되고 있다는 사실을 통해 시나리오 개발을 진단할 수 있다. 또한 벽사(辟邪) 제1경으로 꼽히는 '옥추보경(玉樞寶經)'의 변상도(變相圖)에 신장이 시각적 이미지로 형상화되어 있을 뿐만 아니라, 저마다 고유한 서사와 직능을 갖고 있다는 사실을 통해 '마스코트' 또는 '수호천사' 개념의 캐릭터 군(群) 개발을 진단할 수 있다. 마지막으로 젊은 세대들이 부적을 키치(Ktsch) 문화의 일종으로 '놀이'이자 '문화'로 인식하고 있다는 데 주목하여, 수백여 종에 달하는 설경(說經)의 문양을 통해 보다 고급스럽고 매력적인 '맞춤형 부적' 개발을 진단할 수 있다. 시나리오, 캐릭터, 디지털 부적은 제 분야에서 개별적인 개발이 가능하지만, 시나리오와 캐릭터, 캐릭터와 부적을 연계한 융합적인 개발도 가능하다.

영문 초록
