학생의 ICT 관련 변인이 ICT 활용에 대한 태도 및 문제해결력에 미치는 영향

국문 초록

본 연구는 학습자들의 ICT 활용 특성을 탐색하고, ICT 활용이 학습자의 문제해결력에 미치는 효과를 분석하였다. 이를 위하여, PISA 2012 데이터 가운데 고등학교 1학년 4728명을 분석 대상으로 하여, 학생의 ICT 관련 변인과 문제해결력 간의 관계를 구조방정식 모형을 활용하여 분석하였다. 본 연구에서는 학생의 성별 및 가정의 사회경제적 지위를 포함하여, 학생의 ICT 관련 변인으로 가정에서의 ICT 활용 가능성 및 용도별 ICT 활용 빈도(과제용 및 오락용), ICT 학업활용에 대한 인식을 포함하였다. 주요 연구결과를 살펴보면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 학습자의 성별에 따라 ICT 활용 목적에 차이를 보였는데, 남학생이 여학생보다 오락용으로 컴퓨터를 활용하는 빈도가 상대적으로 더 높았으며, 여학생보다 문제해결력도 다소 높은 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 가정의 사회경제적 지위에 따라 가정 내 ICT 기기 보유 정도와 문제해결력에 상당한 격차가 있으나, 단순히 ICT 기기 보유가 많은 것 자체가 문제해결력의 유의미한 차이로 이어지지는 않았다. 그러나 용도별 ICT 활용 빈도의 경우, 오락용으로 자주 사용할수록 문제해결력은 낮았으며, 학업적으로 자주 사용할 경우에는 문제해결력이 상대적으로 높았다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to explore the characteristics of students' ICT use and investigate the effects of the students' ICT use on their problem-solving abilities. For this purpose, this study utilized 4728 10th grade students in Korean high schools using the PISA 2012 data sets. In addition, it employed structural equation modeling (SEM) to explore the relationships between the students' ICT-related variables and their problem-solving abilities. In this study, the students' ICT-related variables are composed of ICT availability at home, the frequencies of ICT use (ICT use at home for school-related tasks and ICT entertainment use), and their attitude towards ICT including their gender and socioeconomic status (SES) family backgrounds. The results of this study indicate some findings as follows. First, there was a significant gender difference in the purpose of students' ICT use. Male students were more entertainment-oriented ICT users and female students were more task-oriented ICT users. In addition, the male students had significant higher problem solving abilities than the female students. Second, there were significant SES differences in ICT availability at home and students' problem solving abilities. However, there was no significant difference of ICT availability at home in students' problem solving abilities. Also, there was a significantly negative relationship between students' ICT entertainment use and their problem solving abilities, whereas there was a significantly positive relationship between students' ICT use at home for school-related tasks and their problem solving abilities.
