국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 학교의 교육 책무성이 저성취 학생의 학업성취 향상에 미치는 영향을 분석하는 데 있다. 이는 학업 성취 향상과 교육 책무성을 연결시키는 여러 논의에 비해, 교육 책무성을 확보하기 위한 활동이 학업 성취를 향상시켰는지에 대한 실증적 연구가 부족하기 때문이다. 이 때, 교육에 대한 책무성은 학교에서 최소한의 학력 수준을 담보해야 한다는 주장에 근거하여 연구의 초점은 저성취 학생의 학업성취 향상에 두었다. 분석 자료는 국가수준학업성취도 평가 자료 중 2009년과 2010년 자료를 활용하였다. 이는 이 자료가 PISA 2009와 연계되어 학생 및 학교 배경 변수를 비교적 풍부하게 활용할 수 있을 뿐만 아니라 동일한 학생의 성취 변화 자료를 포함하기 때문이다. 국어, 영어, 수학 교과에 대한 과목별 분석 결과, 영어 과목에서만 교육 내적 책무성이 저성취 학생의 학업성취 향상에 정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 통제 변수와 관련해서 영어 교과에서는 가계 연소득이 높을수록, 사립에 비해 국공립학교 학생인 경우, 성적 향상 집단에 속할 승산이 높게 나타났다.

영문 초록

This study examined the effects of the school accountability on the low achievers' academic improvement. This study considered the students' academic improvement as the significant responsibility of the schools. For this purpose, We divided the students' into two groups by comparing the students' academic index of National Assessment of Educational Achievement for 2009 with those of 2010, among the students who took PISA 2009. The academic index of 299 students for Korean, the 844 students for English, and the 874 students for math in general high schools were used to prove the effects of educational external and internal accountability. The effects of the two school accountability were analysed through logistic regression with the control variables. The results were different among the subjects. External accountability did not have a significant effects on the low achievers' improvement for Korean, English, and math. In contrast, the internal accountability influenced positively the students' academic progress only in the case of English. Besides, in English subject, the higher the level of household annual income increased, and in the case of the students in public schools, the higher the odds ratio for the academic improvement increased.
