Ⅰ. Introduction
Today computer graphics have moved into spotlight within many related fields. The use of computer graphics in many fields as well as in history is now universalized. More than ever, those fields which utilize virtual reality are being vigorously researched and are rapidly progressing. Many advanced countries are obtaining positive results, allowing the world to learn about their culture and history by using virtual reality techniques for the restoration of cultural property. Above all, the West has utilized the diversity of the CAVE system which could best express the artificial system among virtual reality
systems. However, in Korea this technology remains in its early stages of development. Moreover, the field, digital restoration of cultural property, which will be discussed in this study, hasn't yet been explored. Accordingly, this study presents the way of digitally restoring cultural property based on the CAVE through the empirical research and suggests the significance and possibility of digitally restoring cultural property in the CAVE system. For them, this study processes the digitally restoring of Kuknae Sung and Taewang Tomb and refers to the limitation and the future study following the investigation of CAVE and
the introduction of applicable examples in abroad. Virtual Reality have moved into spotlight within many related fields. The use of Virtual Reality in many fields as well as in Culture heritage is now universalized. Nowadays Cultural heritage is becomeing an important contents for Virtual Reality technology.
More than ever, those fields which utilize virtual reality are being vigorously researched and are rapidly progressing. Many advanced countries are obtaining positive results, allowing the world to learn about their culture and history by using virtual reality techniques for the restoration of cultural property.
Above all, the West has utilized the diversity of the Reality Center system & CAVE system which could best express the artificial system among virtual reality systems.
However, in Korea this technology remains in its early stages of development. Moreover, the field, digital restoration of cultural property, which will be discussed in this study, hasn't yet been explored.
Ⅱ. Computer - aided reconstructions : Digital Restorology
Now we called Digital Restorology(a study about Reconstruction old heritage) is breathing new life into ancient worlds. That is to say aided reconstructions of past - “Digital Restorology”.
For example Kuknae Sung and Taewang Tomb offers an excellent example of a sophisticated restored object. Now we told well the prodigious power of the Virtual Reality in helping as to recreate and to visualize anew the sites that historian have excavated and studied.
Virtual Reality is a technology that utilizes real-time three-dimensional graphics to give the viewer an experience of being in another place and situation. With conventional Virtual Reality systems, virtual experience was created by the surrounding screens that are linked with the user's movement via sensors attached on the user's body or special goggles.
We are focus that future Korea generations will be widely educated about their own heritage and the heritage of asia cultures around the world. From this time Virtual Reality technology play a role in bringing this ancient asia culture back to life.
The Virtual Reality at the ancient city or object exhibition introduced a new category to the general public: so called - Digital Restorology - It is very important to show simulations right in front of human's eyes.
* Virtual Reality : ‘Virtual Reality’ is used in a variety of ways. Originally, the term referred to ‘Immersive Virtual Reality.’ In
immersive VR, the user becomes fully immersed in an artificial, three dimensional world that is completely generated by a computer.
