다전공 복합학문시대 한문학연구의 역할

국문 초록

이 논문은 21세기 다문화 복합학문 시대를 맞아 한국한문학 연구의 방향을 모색하고자 한다. 한국한문학 연구는 그 출발단계에서부터 순문학적인 것만을 고집하지 않아 사상사, 사회사, 예술사 등을 포괄하는 통합 학문적 정격이 강하였다. 특히 최근에는 문학의 범위를 넘어서 타전공 영역의 본령에 해당하는 연구 성과까지 도출하고 있다. 이와 함께 최근 포스트모더니즘과 탈근대 담론이 활발하게 일어나면서 민족이나 근대와 같은 거대담론이 축소되고 그 자리에 생활 혹은 일상이 자리하는 한편, 문화론적인 접근이 크게 유행하면서 한문학 연구 역시 문화론적인 연구가 크게 성행하고 있다. ‘물질(material)’을 키워드로 하는 문화론적 연구 방법에 의하여 한문으로 된 텍스트를 바탕으로 건축, 조경, 여행, 서적 등 다양한 주제에 대한 주목할 만한 성과가 나오고 있다. 이러한 상황에서 한국한문학 연구의 미래를 낙관할 수 있지만, 정밀한 한문 해독 능력을 기본으로 하면서도 문학 이외의 여러 학문에 대한 깊은 이해가 동반될 때 한문학 연구의 수준이 높아질 수 있다. 이와 함께 학문 방향성에 대한 고민이 필요하다. 생태, 소수자, 다문화, 여성 등 현재적인 의미가 있는 주제를 개발하여 살아 있는 한문학 연구가 되어야 한다는 점에서 法古創新은 여전히 한문학 연구의 가장 중요한 방법론이 되어야 한다. 물론 탈근대와 연계된 문화론적인 접근은 어떤 이념이나 목적을 지향하지 않음으로써 그간 주도적이지 않았던 문화사적 현상을 새롭게 부각시키는 것 자체에 관심이 있다. 이에 따라 문화론적 접근은 독자들에게 읽을거리를 제공할 수 있어 새로운 형태의 창작행위로 나아갈 필요도 있다. 한국한문학 연구가 다른 분야를 향하여 개척의 길을 나아가는 것도 중요하지만, 한문학 텍스트를 정밀하게 해독하기 위해서도 다전공 복합학문의 자세가 필수적이다. 한문학 작품은 일반적인 문학이 다 그러하듯이 삼라만상을 담는 그릇이므로, 정밀한 작품해석을 위해서는 다전공 복합학문에 힘을 쏟지 않을 수 없다. 특히 조선 후기 박물학적인 경향이 문학에서 강하게 드러나므로 박물학자적인 박학이 필요하다.

영문 초록

This paper tries to seek to find a way of Korean Chinese literature research in the twenty-first century, the age of Multi-major Interdisciplinary Study. From a beginning stage, the research of Korean Chinese Literature has a tendency of coordinate learning, including history of ideas, social history, and art history. Especially, in recent days, it produces the outcomes in other major fields beyond the boundary of literature. Furthermore, it follows the trend of cultural studies focusing on the dailiness or everyday lifes under the influence of discourses on post-modernism and post-structuralism, while the macro-discourses such as nation and modemity are being retreated. By the methodology of cultural studies which take 'material' as an academic keyword, the research of Korean Chinese literature turns out noteworthy achievements in diverse areas, such as architecture, gardening, travel, and book. In this situation, we can be optimistic about the future of Korean Chinese literature, but for the upgraded advancement of Korean Chinese literature, deep approaches on various subjects outside the literature based on the close understanding of Chinese texts are required. The research of Korean Chinese literature should develop new methodologies with a creative mind, covering current academic issues such as ecology, minority, multi-culture, gender. These cultural approaches associated with post-modernism pay attention to show the cultural phenomena which have not veen focused so far, unrestricted to any specific ideology or intention. These might offer many materials to the readers and need to get to a new form of writing activities. It is important that the research of Korean Chinese Literature explores a new way forward different academic fields, but for the close interpretation of Chinese texts, the attitude for multi-major interdisciplinary study is necessary. Especially, the literature in the late Joseon has a strong tendency of natural history, so the researchers need to have a wide knowledge as a naturalist.
