국문 초록

본 연구는 『삼국사기』 열전 <박제상전>의 설화적 구성과 그 역사적 맥락을 살펴보고자 하는 것이다. 살펴본 결과를 정리하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, <박제상전>은 설화를 사료로 하여 입전하였기에, 설화적 구조로 이루어졌다. 설화적 구성을 통해 볼 때, <박제상전>에서의 눌지왕은 수동적인 수익자로, 박제상은 능동적인 행위자로서 한 사람의 동맹자로 나타난다. 이 두 사람은 상호의존적인 입장에 서 있다. 이들 사이에는 희생에 대한 보답의 묵계가 형성되어 있었으며, 실제적으로 눌지왕은 박제상의 희생에 보답하였다. 둘째, <박제상전>에서는 요약, 장면, 서술, 대화 등 다양한 서술방식이 적절히 사용되고 있다. 그리고 <박제상전>은 설화적인 사료를 바탕으로 하였지만, 그 속에는 김부식의 문장관이나 유가적 윤리관이 상당부분 투영되어 있음을 알 수 있었다. 셋째, <박제상전>의 역사적 맥락은 눌지왕과 박제상의 관계를 파악함으로써 이해할 수 있었다. 이들은 정치적 입장에 따라 수익자와 동맹자의 관계의 관계에 있다. 눌지왕은 박제상의 정치적, 외교적, 군사적인 능력을 인정하고서 그의 도움을 청하였으며, 박제상은 그에 따라 임금에게 도움을 주고 그 보답으로 자신들의 세력을 유지해 나갈 수 있었다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this thesis is to research the narrative structure and historical context of (박제상전). The result of this study is as follows. First, after examining the aspect of composition of , I found that it is made of narrative structure. When it is analysed through the narrative composition, we can see that King NulJi(눌지왕) and Park, Jae-Sang(박제상) are represented as allies and the one was described as passive beneficiary and the other as active agent. They are co-dependant and there is a tacit agreement between the two. In fact King NulJi did rewarded Park, Jae-Sang for his sacrifice. Second, there are various methods for the description properly used in such as summary, scene, narration, a dialogue, etc. Although is writed on the basis of narrative documents of oral tradition, there are strong view point of writing style of Kim, Bu-Sik(김부식) and Confucian ethics in it. Third, historical context of can be researched after understanding the relationship between King NulJi and Park, Jae-Sang. Their relationship is based on a beneficiary and an ally. It is possible to understand this when we grasp the broad meaning of his lineage, duty, local defense and faithfulness at the cost of his own life and the rewards for that. King NulJi asked for their support because he recognized their political, diplomatical, and military abilities. Therefore, Park, Jae-Sang could maintain his power supporting his King.
