신교육사회학의 학교문화에 대한 논의와 우리나라 미술과 교육과정, 교과서 분석

국문 초록

모든 학교 교육은 다양한 문화 속에서 다음 세대에게 전수할 문화의 내용을 선택하고 재고안하는 것을 전제로 한다. 그러므로 ‘학교 문화’의 존재를 거론할 수 있으며, 그 특수성을 인정하여야 한다. 여기서 우리는 인식적이고 문화적인 선택에서 무엇이 결정적인 요소이며, 그 목적은 무엇인지 의문을 갖게 된다. 더구나 ‘현대성’의 개념으로 특징 지워지는 오늘날의 문화 상황은 학교 문화를 구성하는데 더 큰 어려움을 주고 있다. 이러한 상황에서 ‘신’교육사회학이라는 이름 아래 커리큘럼과 문화에 대한 논의, 즉 학교에서의 문화의 선별과 그 선별의 결정 요인, 목적에 관한 연구가 이루어진다. 이 학파는 학교 지식이 ‘사회적으로 구성된’ 것이라는 특성을 밝혀내며, 보편주의에 대항하며 복수문화주의, 혹은 다중문화주의, 상대주의의 담론을 가져온다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 논의를 고찰하고, 이를 통해 우리나라 제7차 미술과 교육과정 및 교과서 분석을 하여 미술과에서 규정하는 학교문화에 대해 검토하며, 여기서 고려되어야 할 교육적 함의에 대해 생각해본다.

영문 초록

Education supposes a selection among the cultures and a reelaboration of the contents of culture destined to be transmitted to the new generations. It is the school culture and it has to be recognized its specificity. Now, when we discuss the legitimacy of the school culture in Art Education, we bring focus into the pertinent articulation between the artistic culture and the education's theories. On the one hand, from the concept of the modernity, the artistic culture tends to be interrupted from the tradition and to be released from the principle of the authority. The new attitudes are privileged: subjectivity of the vision, individual creativity, multiplicity of the unceasingly renewed artistic formulas, deconstruction of the art's frontiers and hybrids characters. Therefore, the foundation and the legitimacy of the culture and of the knowledge is questioned. On the other hand, the studies on the determinants and the objectives of the cultural selection is led under the name of the ‘New’ Sociology of Education in the Sciences of Education. In revealing the character of the 'socially constructed' school knowledge, this current is opposed to the idea of the constance and the hierarchy of the cultural values, and to the idea of an engagement of school for the conservation and the transmission of the heritage of the high culture. In this way, this study introduces the discussion about the cultual pluralism, the multiculturalism and the relativism against the universalism. It is so necessary to invent an education of the contemporary art in certifying the gap between the school cultures and the cultural practices of the young man, between contemporary creators and the public. In this context, this study analyses the Art Education's curriculum and textbooks in Korea. We verify the enlargement of the notion of the culture.
