소셜 로봇을 활용한 2세 영아의 놀이 상호작용과 교사 지원에 관한 질적 사례연구

국문 초록

오늘날 영유아들은 인간 대상이 아닌 다양한 기술의 복합체인 로봇과의 사회적 상호작용을 경험하고 있다. 소셜로봇은 감성 표현, 언어, 표정 구현 등의 기능을 통해 사회적 상호작용이 더 활발히 이루어지도록 고안된 매체이다. 본 연구는 2세 반 영아 교실의 자유놀이 상황에서 정서적 교감, 이동성, 물리적 터치 등의 사회적 상호작용이 강화된 소셜로봇과 영아의 놀이 상호작용이 어떠한지 살펴보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 2023년 6월부터 2023년 10월까지 만 2세 영아와 소셜로봇 간 상호작용과 관찰된 현상의 심층적 의미를 탐색해 보았다. 이와 더불어 교사의 놀이지원과 개입 상황을 함께 관찰하였으며 최종 분석에 포함하였다. 언어⋅비언어적 상호작용을 포함한 총체적인 관찰기록 자료를 분석한 결과 총 10개의 대범주가 도출되었다. 영아의 놀이와 관련해서는 ‘소셜로봇에 대한 호기심 발현’, ‘소셜로봇에 대한 자발적 탐색과 주도행동’, ‘소셜로봇에 대한 소유행동’, ‘소셜로봇에 대한 사회적 행동’, ‘로봇을 활용한 놀이’의 5가지 대범주가 도출되었다. 교사의 지원과관련해서는 ‘호기심과 질문의 모델링’, ‘비언어적 소통과 감정 맥락 읽기’, ‘영아 주도 행동 따라가기’, ‘갈등 중재와 개입’, ‘놀이 지원’의 5가지 대범주가 도출되었다. 본 연구의 결과를 기초로 소셜로봇을 교육 현장에 도입하는 과정에서 필요한 교육 및 윤리적 논의 주제를 제언하였다.

영문 초록

In contemporary society, young children engage in social interactions with a complex system of robots. Social robots serve as mediums to enrich social interaction by incorporating features such as emotional expression, language, and facial expressions. The present study explores toddlers’ play interactions using social robots in a free play context within a classroom setting. Social robots equipped with functions for emotional communication, mobility, physical touch, and other social interactions were selected for the present study. Participant observation occurred from June 2023 to October 2023, observing the depth of the interactions and phenomena between 2-year-old toddlers and social robots. Additionally, teacher interventions and play support were observed. Transcripts of observational records, including both verbal and non-verbal interactions, were analyzed, with ten major categories emerging from the data analyses. Concerning toddlers’ play, five main categories emerged: ‘expression of curiosity towards social robots,’ ‘voluntary exploration towards social robots,’ ‘conflict behaviors towards social robots,’ ‘social behaviors towards social robots,’ and ‘play utilizing the robot.’ In relation to teacher support, five main categories were identified: ‘modeling curiosity and questioning,’ ‘interpreting non-verbal communication and emotion in the contexts,’ ‘following children’s lead in actions,’ ‘supporting conflict resolution and teacher intervention,’ and ‘play support.’ Based on the findings, topics for education and ethical discussions necessary for the integration of social robots into educational settings have been suggested.
