국문 초록

연구목적: 본 연구의 주된 관심은 로효가 설립한 농촌학교에 스며있는 그의 교육사상과 교육방법을 살펴보고, 오늘날 우리교육에서 의미있게 생각할 수 있는 지점을 찾아보는 데 있다. 연구방법: 로효의 주요 저서를 디지털 도서관을 통해 수집하고 그것을 해석하고자 하였다. 해석의 오류를 줄이고 신뢰를 높이기 위하여 2차 자료들을 보완적으로 검토하였다. 연구결과: 로효의 교육목적은 이해하는 인간을 기르는데 있다. 이해하는 인간은 원인을 탐구하여 알고 그것을 실천하는 인간이다. 이러한 교육적 인간상은 언어를 매개로 하는 교육에서 실천적 인간 형성을 위하여 무엇을 준비해야 하는지에 대한 단서를 제공하고 있다. 논의 및 결론: 우리의 교육은 언어를 단순 암기하는 생동감 없는 교육은 아닌지 되짚어 보아야 한다. 혹시 우리의 교육이 그런 교육이라면 교육받은 개인의 행위가 타인과 사회의 안녕을 위한 실천으로 옮겨지기 어렵고, 그 결과는 지금도 경험하고 있는 것처럼 비인간적인 사회문제의 발생으로 이어지게 될 것이다.

영문 초록

Purpose: The main interest of this study is to look into Rochow's educational ideas and teaching methods that are permeated in the rural schools he established, and to find a point that can be considered meaningful in our education today. Method: I tried to collect Rochow's major books through a digital library and interpret them. In order to reduce errors in interpretation and increase reliability, secondary data were reviewed as complementary. Results: For Rochow, the purpose of education is to make people who understand. A man who understands is a man who seeks and knows the cause and puts it into practice. This educational human image provides clues about what to prepare for the formation of practical human beings in language-mediated education. Conclusion: We need to reconsider whether our education is not a lively education that simply memorizes languages. If our education is such an education, it will be difficult for the educated individual's behavior to be translated into practice for the well-being of others and society, and the result will lead to the occurrence of inhumane social problems, as we are experiencing today.
