유아의 기질이 자녀에 대한 어머니의 애착에 미치는 영향: 어머니 자기 분화의 조절 효과

국문 초록

본 연구는 유아의 기질과 자녀에 대한 어머니의 애착 간 관계에서 어머니 자기 분화의 조절 효과를 알아보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 수도권에서 편의표집한 유아기 자녀를 둔 어머니 259명을 연구대상자로 하였다. 배경 변인을 통제한 후 유아의 기질적 특성, 즉 외향성, 부정적 정서, 의도적 통제가 자녀에 대한 애착에 미치는 영향을 어머니의 자기 분화가 조절하는지 살펴보기 위해 위계적 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 분석 결과 유아의 기질 변인 중 의도적 통제와 어머니의 자기 분화는 자녀에 대한 어머니의 애착에 정적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 어머니의 자기 분화는 유아의 의도적 통제가 자녀에 대한 어머니의 애착에 미치는 영향을 조절하는 것으로 나타났다. 즉, 자녀의 의도적 통제 수준이 낮더라도 어머니의 자기 분화 수준이 높을 경우, 자녀의 기질이 자녀에 대한 어머니의 애착에 미치는 부적 영향력을 낮출 수 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구의 결과는 어머니의 자기 분화 등 정서 심리적 특성을 고려한 부모교육 프로그램을 통해 자녀와 어머니가 함께 성장하면서 부모로서의 역량 증진을 키워갈 수 있도록 지원할 필요가 있음을 시사한다.

영문 초록

This study examines the moderating effect of mothers’ self-differentiation on the relationship between young children’s temperament and maternal attachment. In this study, 259 mothers with children aged 3 to 5 were selected as study participants. After controlling for background variables related to maternal attachment, hierarchical regression analysis was performed to investigate the moderating effect of mothers’ self-differentiation on the relationship between children’s temperament and maternal attachment. The results of the analysis showed that a higher children’s effortful control among temperamental characteristics and a higher mothers’ self-differentiation resulted in a higher level of maternal attachment, and mothers’ self-differentiation moderates the association between children’s effortful control and maternal attachment. That is, even if the level of children’s effortful control was low, the results showed that a higher mothers’ self-differentiation tendency resulted in a higher positive effect of children’s temperament on maternal attachment. The results of this study suggest that it is necessary to design a parenting education program to improve mothers’ self-differentiation by simultaneously considering mothers’ psychological and personality characteristics and the adaptive contribution of the children’s temperament development.
