대학생의 애착불안정성과 우울감의 관계: 사회비교 경향성과 소속감의 다중매개효과

국문 초록

본 연구는 Whisman(2017)이 제안한 우울의 관계적 관점을 바탕으로 대학생의 애착불안정성과 우울감의 관계에서 사회비교 경향성과 소속감의 다중매개효과를 검증하였다. 특히 애착불안정성의 하위변인들 간에 내적작동모델의 특수성을 고려하여, 불안애착정도와 회피애착정도를 포함한 하위변인 수준에서 연구모형이 고찰되었다. 이를 위해 수도권 소재 4년제 대학생 278명을 대상으로 자기보고식 연구를 진행하였고, 통계분석으로 SPSS 29.0과 PROCESS macro 4.2를 사용하였다. 다중병렬매개효과를 검증하기 위해 Hayes(2018)의 모델 6번을, 매개효과의 유의성 검증을 위해 부트스트래핑을 적용하였다. 그 결과 1) 불안애착정도와 우울감의 관계에서 사회비교 경향성과 소속감은 유의한 부분 다중매개효과를 나타냈으며, 2) 회피애착정도와 우울감의 관계에서 사회비교 경향성은 유의하지 않고, 소속감만 완전매개효과를 나타냈다. 이는 높은 수준의 불안애착정도의 관계민감성과 높은 회피애착정도의 사회철회 경향성을 반영하며, 나아가 우울 이해에 있어 애착불안정성의 하위특성을 막론한 소속감의 중요성을 함의한다. 결국 대학생 우울개입에 있어 애착불안정성의 하위요인별 특수성을 고려하는 동시에, 연결성이라는 공통욕구를 고려한 관계맥락적 접근의 필요성이 시사된다.

영문 초록

Objectives: Some traditional models have often overlooked relational factors underlying depressive symptoms. Recently, relational perspectives on depression have gained prominence in research and mental health practice (Whisman, 2017). Accordingly, this study examines the mediating effects of social comparison and belongingness in relationships between attachment insecurity and depressive mood among undergraduate students. Methods: A self-reported survey method was conducted with 278 undergraduates in metropolitan Seoul. Multiple mediation effects were tested using SPSS 29.0, PROCESS macro 4.2, and Hayes’s Model 6 (2018) with bootstrapping. Results: Results revealed that a) social comparison and belongingness partially mediated the relationship between anxious attachment and depressive mood, and b) belongingness fully mediated the path between avoidant attachment and depressive mood; whereas social comparison showed no significant effect. Conclusions: These findings highlight relational sensitivities associated with anxious attachment, social withdrawal tendencies in avoidant attachment, and the pivotal role of belongingness across attachment types in understanding depressive mood. It implicates the necessity of incorporating relational/contextual factors into interventions for depressive mood, moving beyond individual-centered approaches. Future clinical research and practice should adapt relational models of depression to enhance therapeutic effectiveness.
