퍼실리테이션 워크숍의 퍼실리테이터와 참여자 간 상호작용에 대한 질적 사례연구

국문 초록

퍼리실리테이션 진행자로서 퍼실리테이터는 교량적, 중립적 위치에서 역할 수행을 해야 하지만, 보이지 않는 권력이 주어진 역할 수행에 장애가 된다는 점에서 비판적 성찰을 통한 의도적 실천이 필요하다는 지적을 받고 있다. 선행연구에서는 퍼실리테이터 상호작용 형태라든지 대응 방식 차이에 대해서는 충분히 규명되지 않았다. 본 연구의 목적은 퍼실리테이터가 목표달성을 위해 참여자와 어떤 형태의 상호작용을 하는가에 대해 살펴보는 데 있다. 연구 결과에 따르면 퍼실리테이터 상호작용 형태는 퍼실리테이터 개입의 공적영역과 참여자의 공적영역으로 구성되었다. 전자는 구별 짓기, 활동 통제하기, 참여자 존중하기, 역량 절충하기 등 적극적 형태로 나타났고, 후자는 참여자로부터 답 찾기, 참여자 힘 확장하기를 통해 지식을 재구성할 수 있는 소극적 형태로 나타났다. 두 가지 차원에서 나타난 상호작용 형태는 중첩된 하나의 통합 시스템으로 나타나지만, 순차적으로 구성하는 것이 아니라 실제 상황에 따라 다양한 형태로 전개된다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 연구결과를 통해 두 가지 시사점을 도출하였다. 첫째, 퍼실리테이터는 퍼실리테이션 워크숍의 상호작용 형태와 특징을 다각적인 관점에서 이해할 필요가 있다. 둘째, 퍼실리테이터와 참여자 간에 형성된 신뢰 관계는 퍼실리테이터 개입의 공적영역과 참여자의 공적영역에서 비판적 성찰의 상호작용을 위한 주요 동인이 되었다.

영문 초록

As a facilitation host, the facilitator has to play a role in a bridge and neutral position, but it is pointed out that intentional practice through critical reflection is necessary in that invisible power is an obstacle to the performance of a given role. Prior studies have not sufficiently identified differences in the form of interaction of facilitators and their response methods. The purpose of this study is to explore what forms of interaction facilitators has with participants to achieve their goals. Studies have shown that the interaction form of facilitator consisted of the public domain of facilitator intervention and the public domain of participants. The former appeared in active forms, such as distinguishing, controlling activities, respecting participants, and compromising competencies, while the latter appeared in passive forms that could reconstruct knowledge through finding answers from participants and expanding participant forces. The interaction forms in two dimensions appear as one superimposed integrated system, but we can see that they are not constructed sequentially but are deployed in various forms depending on the actual situation. Two implications have been derived from the results of the study. First, the facilitator needs to understand the interaction forms and features of the facilitation workshop from a multifaceted perspective. Second, the trust relationship formed between the facilitator and the participants became a major driver for the interaction of critical reflection in the public domain of the facilitator intervention and in the public domain of the participants.
