국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 한국교육개발원의 「한국교육종단연구 2013」 1∼7차년도에 모두 참여한 5,936명을 대상으로 아동·청소년기 공동체의식의 변화 양상과 공동체의식에 영향을 미치는 요인을 탐색하는 것이다. 학교급 전환기를 분할점(knot)으로 하는 분할함수 성장모형(piecewise growth model)을 적용한 결과, 공동체의식의 변화는 초등학교 시기와 중학교 시기에만 증가하는 추세를 보였으며 고등학교 시기에는 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 없는 것으로 나타났다. 공동체의식에 영향을 주는 가정요인으로는 가구소득, 부모의 학업적 지원, 긍정적인 양육태도가 있었고, 학생요인으로는 학업성취도, 봉사활동 경험, 학급 및 전교임원 경험, 자아개념, 규칙준수, 다문화 수용성, 수업태도, 교우관계, 학업스트레스, 휴대전화 중독이 있었다. 교사 및 학교요인으로는 교사-학생 상호작용, 교사의 성취압력, 교사열의, 교사-학생 관계가 학생의 공동체의식에 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 세 개 학교급을 모두 포함하여 학생들의 공동체의식의 변화 양상을 분석하였으며, 교사 및 학교요인을 탐색함으로써 공동체의식을 향상시킬 수 있는 구체적인 방안을 모색하였다는 데 연구 의의가 있다. 끝으로 후속 연구 주제를 논의하였다.

영문 초록

The main purpose of this study was to model growth in the sense of a community of 5,936 students who participated in all of the seven years of the Korean Education Longitudinal Study 2013. Among growth models investigated, a piecewise model of school levels as transitions provided the best fit. Specifically, the sense of community linearly increased in elementary and middle school years, but there was no statistically significant change over high school periods. Statistically significant variables were also identified. Teacher- and school-related factors included teacher－student interaction, teacher achievement pressure, teacher enthusiasm, and teacher－student relationships. Family factors were household income, parents’ academic support, and positive parenting attitudes. Student factors included experiences as school volunteers or class officers, rule-compliance attitudes, self-concept, multi-cultural acceptance, friendship, academic stress, and cellphone addiction. This study bears implications in that students’ growth over all three school levels were investigated, and teacher and school variables were identified as significant factors to improve students’ sense of community. Future research topics are also discussed.
