국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 초등학교 저학년 아동의 미디어중독에 아동의 자아존중감, 또래애착, 미디어 이용실태와 어머니의 양육행동이 어떠한 영향을 미치는 지를 탐색하는 것이다. 이를 위해 한국아동패널의 10차년(2017년) 조사에 참여한 1,386명의 어머니와 자녀의 자료를 연구의 대상으로 선정하였다. 연구결과 첫째, 아동의 미디어 이용시간은 일일 평균 1.18시간이었으며, 일반이용자와 고위험 이용자 간의 유의미한 차이가 있었다. 아동은 게임과 엔터테인먼트를 위해 미디어를 이용하는 정도가 가장 높았고, 게임은 일반사용자, 잠재적 위험 사용자, 고위험 사용자간 이용의 정도에 유의미한 차이가 있었다. 둘째, 미디어중독 수준에 따라 아동의 자아존중감, 또래애착과 어머니의 양육 행동 간에 차이가 있었고 미디어 중독 위험 수준별로 각각 유의미한 차이가 있었다. 셋째, 미디어 이용시간과 어머니의 권위주의적, 허용적 양육행동은 미디어중독사용자 발생의 확률을 증가시켰다. 연구결과에 근거하여 초등학교 저학년 아동의 미디어중독 예방을 위한 중재 및 개입전략에 대한 제안점을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of children’s self-esteem, peer attachment, media usage and mother’s parenting behavior on media addiction of lower grade children. For the study, data from 1,386 mothers and children who participated in the Korea Children’s Panel’s 10th year (2017) survey were selected. Collected data were statistically analyzed through frequency analysis, descriptive statistics, ANOVA, and multinomial logistic analysis using SPSS ver 24.0. The main results are as follows. First, the media usage time of children was 1.18 hours per day, and there was a significant difference between general users and high risk users. Children used the media the most for games and entertainment. The game had a significant difference in the degree of use among general users, potential risk users, and high risk users. Second, there was a difference between children’s self-esteem, peer attachment, and mother’s parenting behavior according to media addiction level. The higher the risk of media addiction, the higher the authoritarian and permissive parenting behavior of mothers. There was a significant difference between media addiction levels. Second, there was a difference between children’s self-esteem, peer attachment, and mother’s parenting behavior according to media addiction level. The higher the risk of media addiction, the higher the mother’s authoritarian and permissive parenting behavior. There were significant differences in media addiction level. Third, media usage time and mother’s authoritarian and permissive parenting behavior increased the probability of media addicts. Based on the results of this study, the suggestions for intervention strategies to prevent media addiction in children were discussed.
