건강관리 및 교육에 대한 발달장애 학생과 성인의 인식과 경험에 관한 질적 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 발달장애 학생과 성인의 건강관리 및 교육에 대한 인식과 경험을 탐색함으로써 발달장애 학생의 건강관리 프로그램 개발을 위한 기초자료를 제공하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 초·중·고 특수학교 및 특수학급에 재학 중인 12명의 발달장애 학생과 취업 혹은 대학에 재학 중인 8명의 발달장애 성인이 연구에 참여하였다. 참여자들의 건강관리 및 교육에 대한 인식과 경험을 탐색하기 위하여 발달장애 학생에게는 개별면담을, 발달장애 성인에게는 5회기의 포토보이스 면담을 진행하였다. 수집된 자료에 대한 질적분석 결과 7개의 대주제(건강관리 및 교육의 실제, 건강 관리를 위한 개인 위생, 꾸준한 운동, 균형있는 식습관, 위험 대처, 스트레스 관리, 건강관리의 어려움 및 지원요구)와 22개의 하위주제가 도출되었다. 연구결과에 대한 논의를 토대로 정신건강 관리의 중요성, 건강 자기옹호 역량 강조, 다양한 교수학습 방법 활용, 주변인 교육과 학교-가정 연계의 측면에서 발달장애학생의 건강관리 프로그램 개발 및 후속연구를 위한 제언을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to explore the perceptions and experiences of students and adults with developmental disabilities regarding health care and education to develop a health care program for students with developmental disabilities. As such, 12 students with developmental disabilities from special schools and classrooms across elementary, middle, and high school levels, and eight adults with developmental disabilities, who are at work or in postsecondary schools, participated in the study. Individual interviews were conducted with the students with developmental disabilities, and photovoice interviews, which consisted of five sessions per person, were conducted with the adults with developmental disabilities. As a result of the analysis on all the collected data, seven themes emerged, including practices in health care and education, personal hygiene, steady exercise, healthy eating habit, coping with danger, stress management for health care, and difficulties and support needs in health care. As well, 22 sub-themes appeared. Based on these findings, the results were discussed and implications were provided to enhance health care and further research such as emphasis on the importance of mental health care and education, emphasis on enhancing health self-advocacy, the implementation of various methods for health care and education, and education for significant others around students with developmental disabilities and school-home connections.
