예천읍지 『竺山勝覽』에 소재한 漢詩와 그 성격

국문 초록

본고는 예천의 용궁 읍지 『『축산승람』을 대상으로 한시의 수록 현황을 파악하고 이를 통해 읍지 내 한시의 성격을 고찰한 것이다. 용궁은 1914년 행정구역 폐합과 관련된 지방 제도의 개편으로 사라진 지역이다. 이후 1934년 그 지역의 역사가 인멸되는 것을 염려하여 이전 사실을 기록한 『축산승람』이라는 읍지 편찬이 이루어졌다. 『축산승람』은 용궁만을 대상으로 한 전통 시대의 자료들 가운데 가장 완경판이자 최후의 자료이며, 용궁의 기존 읍지에 비해 분량이 거의 4배에 달할 정도로 풍부해졌다. 이는 전통문화를 총정리하고자 하였던 의도를 파악할 수 있었다. 더구나 본고에서 주목하는 한시가 기존의 용궁 읍지보다 5배나 많이 수록되어 있었다. 『축산승람』에는 60명의 작가가 등장하며 총 63수의 한시가 수록되어 있었으며, 5언/7언, 4구/8구 등으로 주로 구성되어 있었다. 작가는 고려 이규보, 이제현에서부터 읍지편찬 시기에 활동한 蘇鎭夏(1889-?)까지 나타나고 있었다. 읍지 내 한시가 수록된 항목은 人物, 題詠, 古蹟 등의 항목에 주로 수록되어 있으며 고르게 분포되어 있었다. 세 항목을 살펴본 결과, 예천의 공간을 소개하기 위한 기능, 그리고 특정 공간을 중심으로 하여 장소뿐만 아니라 관련 인물을 부각시키고자 하는 기능, 인물 자체를 소개하고 현양하는 기능이 있다는 사실을 파악하였다. 『축산승람』에서 한시는 문학성을 검증하고 작품을 감상하기 위한 문학 장르로 편제되기보다, 읍지라는 문헌적 성격에 맞게 해당 지역을 보다 생동감 있게 소개하기 위한 도구이자, 간행 당시 지역 인물들을 드러내는 방편으로 기능하고 있는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 특히 1914년 행정구역 폐합과 관련된 지방 제도의 개편으로 용궁지역의 역사가 인멸되는 것을 염려하여 읍지편찬이 이루어졌으며, 수록한 한시 역시 이러한 편찬 목적과 궤를 같이 하고 있었다.

영문 초록

This study examines the Sino-Korean poetry included in the “Yecheon Yonggung Town Gazetteer” called “Chuksanseungnam” and investigates the nature of Sino-Korean poetry in personal-compiled Town Gazetteers. “Chuksanseungnam” is the most comprehensive and final source of traditional data focusing solely on Yonggung. It contains nearly four times the content compared to Yonggung's existing Town Gazetteers. One distinctive feature of “Chuksanseungnam” is found in the fifth clause of its legend, which states the principle of “For each lookout and pavilion, one poem in the original rhyme scheme should be written”. This is separate from the poem titles included in the later part of the book. While the poems listed in the poem title section represent buildings that officially represent Yonggung, the poems included in lookouts and pavilions have significance in introducing buildings within the private or historical domain. This is a criterion that is not easily found in the existing Town Gazetteers of Yonggung. Another feature is the inclusion of Sino-Korean poetry in the biographical entries. It is a substantial amount compared to other entries and is unique to “Chuksanseungnam”. This served as the foundation of classical Chinese literature and, especially, led to poetic activities. This allowed for an examination of the creation status and significance of Sino-Korean poetry composed against the backdrop of lookouts and local attractions within the Yonggung area. “Chuksanseungnam” featured 60 authors and included a total of 63 Sino-Korean poems. These poems were primarily composed in 5-character and 7-character lines or 4-line and 8-line stanzas. The authors ranged from those from the Goryeo period and Yi Gyu-bo and Yi Je-hyeon of the Joseon period to So Jin-ha (1889-?), who was active during the Town Gazetteer compilation era. The poems were mainly categorized under items such as figures, poem titles, and historical sites and were evenly distributed throughout the collection. Upon examining the three items, it was found that the Sino-Korean poetry within “Chuksanseungnam” serves the function of introducing the space of Yecheon, highlighting not only the place but also emphasizing related figures based on that particular space. It also serves the function of introducing and praising the individuals themselves. In “Chuksanseungnam”, Sino-Korean poetry is not organized as a literary genre for verifying its literary quality and enjoying the work. Instead, it functions as a tool to vividly introduce the corresponding region in line with the documentary nature of a Town Gazetteer. It also serves as a means to reveal the local figures of that time when it was published. Especially in 1914, concerns about the extinction of the history of the Yonggung region arose due to the reorganization of the local system related to administrative area mergers. As a result, the compilation of the Town Gazetteer took place, and the included Sino-Korean poetry also aligned with this compilation purpose.
