『性理群書句解』의 판본 검토와 조선 전기 수용의 일면

국문 초록

『性理群書』는 도학자들의 글을 모은 선집으로 알려져 있다. 그런데 이 책의 정식 명칭은 『性理群書句解』이고, 前ㆍ後集으로 나누어져 있다. 도학자들의 작품 선집은 前集에, 『『近思錄』ㆍ『近思續錄』ㆍ『近思別錄』으로 된 近思三錄이 後集에 수록되어 있다. 하지만 조선에서 『근사록』은 葉采의 集解本이 통용되었고, 『근사속록』과 『근사별록』은 크게 선호하지 않았던 것으로 보인다. 본고에서는 『성리군서구해』의 전집이자 일반적으로 ‘성리군서』’라고 불린 텍스트의 판본을 분석하고, 조선 전기 수용 양상을 밝혔다. 조선 전기에 대중적으로 유통된 판본은 元版覆刻本ㆍ初鑄甲寅字本ㆍ甲寅字覆刻本이다. 그중 충남대학교에 소장된 甲寅字覆刻本에 初鑄甲寅字本의 내력과 번각 과정 등이 나타나 있다. 『성리군서』는 송대 도학자들의 작품이 단 한 권에 모여 있는 데다가 기본적인 해설이 있다. 『性理大全』이 감당하지 못하는 수요와 철학적 이해가 부족했던 상황에서 『성리군서』는 성리학 입문서로 경쟁력이 있었다. 실제로 『성리군서』는 조선 전기뿐만 아니라 후기에도 광범위하게 간행되었고, 사족의 성리학 교재로 꾸준히 활용되었다. 조선 전기 수용 양상으로는 金時習ㆍ柳希春ㆍ鄭摠ㆍ柳方善 등의 사례를 소개했다. 단순한 독서 흔적을 넘어 이 책의 실질적인 효용성을 증명하는 것은 차후 과제로 남긴다.

영문 초록

Seongrigunseo (『性理群書』) is known to be the collection of neo-Confucian scholars. Its formal title is SeongrigunseoGuhae (『性理群書句解』), and it consists of two volumes: the first volume and the second volume. Writings of Neo-Confucian scholars are included in the first volume, while Geumsasamrok (近思三錄) — Geunsarok (『近思錄』), Geunsasokrok (『近思續錄』), and Geunsabyeolrok (『近思別錄』) — is in the second volume. However, the commentary of Geunsarok by Yeopchae (葉采), scholar of Song China, seems to have been favored by Joseon scholars, while Geunsasokrok and Geunsabyeolrok were not very popular. This study analyzed several block-printed books of the first volume of Seongrigunseo Guhae which was commonly called Seongrigunseo, and examined how they were accepted among scholars of early Joseon dynasty. The xylographic books which were popularly circulated in those days were wonpanbokgakbon (元版覆刻本), chojugapinjabon (初鑄甲寅字本), and gapinjabokgakbon (甲寅字覆刻本). The gapinjabokgakbon stored in Chungnam University describes the history of chojugapinjabon and how its new xylographic editions were made. Seongrigunseo is the collection of the writings of some famous scholars of Song China, and contains basic commentaries of those writings. Under the circumstances where copies of Seongridaejeon (『性理大全』), the big encyclopedia of neo-Confucianism containing theories of various neo-Confucian scholars, could not meet its demand, Seongrigunseo was popular as an introduction to neo-Confucianism. Actually, Seongrigunseo continued to be published until later years of Joseon dynasty, serving as the textbook of neo-Confucianism. As some scholars who accessed Seongrigunseo in early Joseon, this study introduced Kim Si-seup, Ryu Hi-choon, Jeong Chong, and Ryu Bang-seon, etc. I regard it as my future objective to prove actual effectiveness of Seongrigunseo to scholars of those years beyond identifying that they accessed the book.
