영문 초록

There are several theoretical approaches in dealing with L2 learner's errors. One of these approaches is the framework of Contrastive Analysis Hypothesis, which plays a somewhat important role in explaining interphonology, and thus, within which most research on phonological aspects of second language acquisition has been conducted. However, the hypothesis has some limits to solve in explaining the problems of L2 acquisition; that is, it fails to tell which type of phonological processes of L1 interfere in learning L2. This article plans to articulate on the types of phonological processes that initiate interference of interphonology and those that do not. It is difficult to differentiate the two in theories of the Natural Generative Phonology, the Natural Phonology and the Lexical Phonology. The Interference Principle based on True Generalization Condition, and Preservation Principle have overcome the limits of the theories mentioned above. However, these theories are lacking in explaining the circumstances of the Korean language. The phonological processes that appear in the Korean language may be exceptional in the acquisition of L2 but they certainly cannot be solved by the theories of today. Therefore, this article has presented a new theory called theory of Repairs . Undoubtedly, this theory must also be adjusted and supplemented but it is certain that this theory is more appropriate than others in solving the problems that arise in the Korean language.
