패키지 디자인 감소요소를 중심으로 한 친환경 디자인

국문 초록

최근 환경 문제가 심각한 사회 문제로 대두되며 환경을 고려한 지속가능 패키지 디자인에 대한 요구가 증가했다. 이에 따라 패키지 디자이너는 매력적인 그래픽 작업과 더불어 환경친화적인 패키지 디자인에 연구를 필수적으로 병행해야 한다. 본 연구는 지속가능한 패키지 디자인의 활성화를 위해 친환경 디자인에서 공통적인 접근 방법으로 강조되는 감량화를 중심으로 하여 구체적인 실천 방안을 제안하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해 문헌연구를 통해 친환경 패키지 디자인에 대해 살펴보았으며 감량화 방안에 초점을 맞춰 실천 방법을 재정리하고 분류하였다. 감량화 방안은 경량화, 간이포장화, 공간 축소, 에너지·비용 절감 4가지로 분류할 수 있었으며 이를 바탕으로 관련된 패키지 디자인 사례를 분석하였다. 분석 결과 기존에 정리된 실천 방법을 더욱 구체화함과 동시에 새로운 방법을 제안할 수 있었다. 경량화는 패키지의 길이와 두께를 최소화하는 등의 방법으로 패키지의 중량을 감량하는 것을 목적으로 하는 것이며 간이포장화는 포장을 최소화 하는 것을 목적으로 불필요한 포장을 줄이고 포장을 단일화하는 등의 실천 방안이 있음을 알 수 있었다. 또한 공간 축소는 제품을 보호할 수 있는 최소한의 패키지에 대해 고민하여 적정설계를 실천하는 것이며 에너지·비용 절감은 생산 및 폐기 전 과정에서의 자원과 비용 절약을 목적으로 인쇄 및 코팅을 최소화하는 것과 후가공 처리를 단순화하는 등의 실천 방법이 있다. 본 연구는 지속가능한 패키지 디자인의 방법 중 감량화에 대한 기초 연구로서 활용될 수 있으며 향후 연구에서는 재활용 방안, 재사용 방안 등의 지속가능한 패키지 디자인을 위한 구체적인 연구가 활성화되기를 기대한다.

영문 초록

Recently, environmental problems have emerged as serious social problems, and the demand for sustainable package design considering the environment has increased. Accordingly, package designers must combine research on environmentally friendly package design with attractive graphic work. The purpose of this study is to propose specific action plans focusing on reducing weight, which is emphasized as a common approach in eco-friendly design, to revitalize sustainable package design.To this end, package design for the environment was examined through literature research, and practical methods were rearranged and classified by focusing on reduction measures. The reduction measures could be classified into four categories: light weight, simple packaging, space reduction, and energy and cost reduction, and related package design cases were analyzed based on this. As a result of the analysis, the existing organized practice method could be further embodied and a new method could be proposed. Lightening is aimed at reducing the weight of a package by minimizing the length and thickness of the package, and simple packaging has practical measures such as reducing unnecessary packaging and unifying packaging for the purpose of minimizing packaging. Space reduction is a proper design practice by considering the minimum package to protect the product, and energy and cost reduction is a practice method such as minimizing printing and coating and simplifying post-processing to save resources and costs in the entire production and disposal process.This study can be used as a basic study on reduction among sustainable package design methods, and future studies are expected to activate specific studies for sustainable package design such as recycling and reuse.
