<한글맞춤법>의 자소체계 연구

국문 초록

본고는 <한글맞춤법>을 중심으로 정보화시대 국어정보학의 많은 연구 주제들의 기본자료로 중요한 입력단위들을, 현대국어의 자소론적인 측면에서 살펴 보았다. 오랫동안 음성언어를 일차적인 것으로, 문자언어를 이차적으로 보아 문자언어의 자율성을 인정하지 않는 움직임이 주류를 이루어 왔다. 그러나 본고에서는 음성언어와 문자언어의 특성을 구분지음으로써, 문자언어의 최소단위를 ‘자소’라 보아 음성언어의 최소단위인 ‘음소’를 연구하는 음운론과는 구별되는 ‘자소론’의 필요성을 언급하였다.이러한 특성을 바탕으로 자소를 “시각적으로 의미를 분화시키는 변별적인 최소단위”로 정의하였다. 또한, 자소를 단어의 형성에 관여하는 1차자소와 단어의 형성에 관여하지 않는 2차자소로 구분하고, 이것을 더욱 세분하여 <한글맞춤법>의 자소체계 특성을 고찰하였다. 1차자소는 ‘자모자소’이고, 2차자소는 아무런 부호를 사용하지 않는 공자소와 문자들간의 논리적 관계를 표시한 부호자소로 구분하였다. 이러한 컴퓨터의 입력단위로서 언어단위에 대한 자소론적인 접근은 국어정보학에 관련된 자판, 한글코드, 글꼴의 설계와 같은 국어정보화에 있어 기본자료로, 또한 말뭉치와 관련된 연구영역과 교육에 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

This study is to investigate the writing system as a unit of computer storage data, which is to say, corpus in Korean language processing. This study points out that writing system is a way of writing a language. The term ‘writing system’ includes a spelling system, punctuation marks, space, etc. The purpose of this study is to investigate into the system of graphemes in Korean Orthography. This study largely classify graphemes into primary and secondary graphemes. Primary grapheme is concerned with spelling system, which is to say, spelling graphemes. Secondary graphemes includes non-spelling graphemes: punctuation, symbolic, numeric, prosodic and zero graphemes. As of this graphemes, we find out the fact that the writing system in Korean orthography consists of spelling(alphabetic), zero, punctuation, symbolic and numeric graphemes. Also, this study divide spelling graphemes into simple and compound graphemes.
