초등 문학 단원 교과서 개발의 시험적 고찰

국문 초록

본고는 현행 초등학교 국어교과서 문학 단원 교과서를 비판하고, 현장 적용의 미래 지향형 문학 단원 교과서 개발의 방향을 제시한 글이다. 본 논의를 통하여 시험적으로 5학년 현장에 투입한 문학 단원은 도깨비는 내 친구라는 교재이다. 여기에서 개발한 문학 단원은 종래의 수용 중심 텍스트의 이해와 감상에 머물지 않고, 학습자들의 왕성한 상상력을 끌어내면서 실제 생활 경험과 호응하는 단원을 지향하면서 각기 작가, 텍스트, 학습 독자와 각기 활발한 소통성을 발휘하도록 꾸며져 있다. 미래형 문학 단원 교과서는 학습자의 사고, 의사소통, 문화 등 국어 능력의 여러 국면을 자극하고, 학습자의 흥미나 능력의 편차에 따른 반응의 개방성을 수용할 수 있어야 하며 범교과적인 관련성을 지녀야 한다. 특히 오늘의 시점에서 미래지향형 교과서는 문학 텍스트의 적합성과 위계성에 바탕을 둔 다매체적 환경과 교섭하는 다각적인 소통성과 통합성이 강조되어야 할 것이며, 더불어 생명주의적 인문 정신과 실천적인 문학 활동이 용해되는 관점에서 구안되어야 할 것이다. 그런 점에서 본고는 현행 경직된 교과 중심적 교육체제가 가지는 분절적, 형식적인 지식 체계를 벗어나고자 하였다. 그리하여, 시대적인 패러다임의 변화와 대화적 상호작용과 사회구성주의적인 입장에 근거하여 아동들의 관심과 문화적 환경을 고려한 메타론적 시각에서 문학 단원을 설계함으로써 다소 유연성 있는 접근 방법을 모색했다는 점에서 그 의의를 찾을 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

This article provides a critique of the literature units in the current elementary Korean textbooks and then presents a tentative plan of developing a unit of literature for future textbooks. The tentative unit is based on a Korean folk story, ‘My Friend Goblin(Do-Kae-Bee-Neun-Nae-Chin-Goo)’, and it is developed for the children of 5th grade. The tentative unit does not only focus on the understanding and reception of the literary text but also emphasize learners' own rich imagination and their reflection of everyday experiences. In this way, the unit is developed to focus on various communications between the author, the text and the learner. Future textbooks should stimulate diverse aspects of learners' thinking, communication skill and cultural understanding in order to develop learners' ecological and humanistic minds that could lead to appropriate social practices. Textbooks should also be able to reflect differences among learners, in terms of their interests and abilities, while encompassing cross-curricular activities. Textbooks need to be developed considering learners' cognitive, emotional and social developments and therefore, literary texts in textbooks should correspond with learners' development. The tentative unit developed and discussed in this article tries to go beyond the limits of the subject-restricted knowledge system that is the current education system. It can be said that this article tries to contribute to Korean language education by developing and discussing this tentative unit which reflects the changing paradigm of the new age and the new educational paradigm of constructivism and dialogic interactions.
